We went on the volcano hike while honeymooning in St. Kitts. We started out with a scenic drive around part of the island with Greg giving bits of trivia and history about the island. He answered every question the group raised and seemed happy to do so. When we finally reached the base of the mountain after a rough but fun ride up Greg spread out a great energizing meal of fruits, juice, fresh coconut, sugar cane, and the best of all - coconut fudge. We headed up after eating and I have to admit it was not the easiest hike for someone a little out of shape but Greg was great about stoping for us to catch our breath and to drink some water. He paced the hike out well and made sure we were good to go before setting off again. At the top he again spread out a nice meal of tuna sandwiches with vinegar marinated cucumbers on sub rolls and left over fruit and more fudge (yay). My husband and I now regularly eat marinated cucumbers with our tuna sanwiches because it was so good! Greg said it was a Kittian thing. We then did a little boulder climbing to reach the actual peak (scarry, it was pretty much a straight drop down the side of the mountain). A fellow in our group helped hoist me up (my legs were too short haha!) and I clung on for dear life but it was a clear day with great views. I reccomend this hike for sure but it isn't for the faint of heart.
