Just returned from a week at Le Vele and loved it. The property itself is perfectly situated on Grace Bay Beach within walking distance of most other resorts yet still quiet and not in the midst of any crowds. The style is modern, so don't expect tacky floral printed bedspreads with paint-by-numbers images of sailboats on the walls. An earlier poster who complained about this would be better off at a more traditional beach hotel but it's hard to imagine anyone under the age of 50 or from a city would feel the same. We walked into most other high end places on the beach and Point Grace next door is the only one we felt created a little nicer atmosphere (but the prices are not in the same category). Beverly and Alexio were extremely helpful and friendly in a low key way. We've stayed at small hotels and resorts around the world at much higher prices (Post Ranch Inn, Royal Malewane, Cape Grace, La Playa, etc.) and Le Vele is a great option with its rooms overlooking the ocean, full (and well-equipped) modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counters in the 1BR or 2BR options, etc. There is not a restaurant on premises but many within a short walk, business services are limited, and breakfasts were basic, but we like to get moving in the morning anyway rather than spend our vacation in restaurants. There were some children around but their parents kept them well behaved and it was not an issue. Never had a problem getting beach chairs or anything like that. Our room was on a corner and it was bright (bring an eyemask if light coming through curtains in the morning would bother you). We took their complimentary bikes for a spin one day. Yes, the rooms/condos are rented out by owners but these are nicely appointed $1million plus places, not cheap timeshares. You can't go wrong with Le Vele if you want a sleek, clean, quiet, newish room in a perfect location. Construction noise is not an issue since it is far removed from Le Vele on other parts of the beach. Some other thoughts on the island:
Restaurants: Best was Grace's Cottage; Magnolia and Iguana were both excellent though Iguana is in a little shopping center; Parallel 23 at The Palms was not good (and as a sidenote, vegetarians stay away because their menu misrepresented the contents of their food to my wife who is a vegetarian), Hemingway's was also on the lower end but OK for a lunch.
Diving: Big Blue was excellent with a comfortable boat and limited number of divers. Staff was great and diving was phenomenal. We also rented kayaks from them and explored the mangroves which was fun.
