“Chic, Quiet, Perfect”

Le Vele is a perfect destination if you want class, sophistication, modernity, and beauty. The staff are warm, attentive, and offer you wonderful yet simple service during your stay. Le Vele is also very gay friendly!!! If you want to avoid the Disney Land experience of a chain resort, have access to an amazing stretch of Grace Bay Beach, and a rum punch to die for (Beverly holds the secret recipe) Le Vele is for you.

“just what we needed”

My husband and I have been fans of the island for the past 5 years. usualy we had stayed at sibonne, however this time we decided taht we would treat ourselves to something a bit more sophisticated given that we were going away on our "babymoon". le vele was exactly what we wanted...exclusive, elegant, beautiful, and the staff could not have been more accomedating. We were upgraded upon arrival for no reason to a 2,000 sqft unit directly on the beach with our own private access onto the beach. There is no rest on the property, however breakfest is delivered to your room daily . My husband and I enjoyed lunch at point grace which was located directly next door to us.
The beauty of le vele is that you feel as though you are the only ones staying there, we never saw more then one other couple on the beach at any given time.
This is a place for anyone that wants to just get away from it all and enjoy the pure natural beauty this island has to offer, while doing it in luxury.

“Terrific week at Le Vele”

Le Vele

5 of 5 stars

Just returned from a week at Le Vele and loved it. The property itself is perfectly situated on Grace Bay Beach within walking distance of most other resorts yet still quiet and not in the midst of any crowds. The style is modern, so don't expect tacky floral printed bedspreads with paint-by-numbers images of sailboats on the walls. An earlier poster who complained about this would be better off at a more traditional beach hotel but it's hard to imagine anyone under the age of 50 or from a city would feel the same. We walked into most other high end places on the beach and Point Grace next door is the only one we felt created a little nicer atmosphere (but the prices are not in the same category). Beverly and Alexio were extremely helpful and friendly in a low key way. We've stayed at small hotels and resorts around the world at much higher prices (Post Ranch Inn, Royal Malewane, Cape Grace, La Playa, etc.) and Le Vele is a great option with its rooms overlooking the ocean, full (and well-equipped) modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counters in the 1BR or 2BR options, etc. There is not a restaurant on premises but many within a short walk, business services are limited, and breakfasts were basic, but we like to get moving in the morning anyway rather than spend our vacation in restaurants. There were some children around but their parents kept them well behaved and it was not an issue. Never had a problem getting beach chairs or anything like that. Our room was on a corner and it was bright (bring an eyemask if light coming through curtains in the morning would bother you). We took their complimentary bikes for a spin one day. Yes, the rooms/condos are rented out by owners but these are nicely appointed $1million plus places, not cheap timeshares. You can't go wrong with Le Vele if you want a sleek, clean, quiet, newish room in a perfect location. Construction noise is not an issue since it is far removed from Le Vele on other parts of the beach. Some other thoughts on the island:

Restaurants: Best was Grace's Cottage; Magnolia and Iguana were both excellent though Iguana is in a little shopping center; Parallel 23 at The Palms was not good (and as a sidenote, vegetarians stay away because their menu misrepresented the contents of their food to my wife who is a vegetarian), Hemingway's was also on the lower end but OK for a lunch.

Diving: Big Blue was excellent with a comfortable boat and limited number of divers. Staff was great and diving was phenomenal. We also rented kayaks from them and explored the mangroves which was fun.

“Concrete box with no character and terrible service”

Le Vele

Apr 8, 2007

I just returned from a stay at Le Vele which was selected based on reviews on this site. This was our third time back to TC; prior stays were at Sands and Beaches. My wife and I traveled without our kids as we were hoping for a quiet, relaxing vacation.

Some of the issues started on check in. The front desk help was plain rude and seemed to be put off by having to do some work and check us in. I later found out that many of the units are owned and some are not ever rented out so perhaps renters are not a valued income stream. The front desk remained surly during every encounter we had with them.

The next issue is my fault. I should have examined pictures more closely to see what the place looks like. The hotel is very institutional and cold with almost no Caribbean feel. It frankly looks like a concrete parking garage with windows between parking levels. Nearby there are some other beautiful Caribbean resorts with gorgeous grounds and my wife was not at all happy to be staying in this concrete box. The next time we will stay at Point Grace, the Somerset, the Palms or the Grace Bay Club, which all have beautiful, mature grounds and a warm tropic feel.

The resort advertises "free daily continental breakfast included with your nightly rate". This amounted to a stale muffin or bagel, yogurt and coffee or tea which was warm, not hot. It was almost laughable that they would consider this a benefit. A quick trip to the IGA to purchase some staples for breakfast and this issues was solved.

As with every resort on Grace Bay, the beach is beautiful. I was a little disappointed to have to share the beach with wet dog that lives at Le Vele, swims each day and is allowed to run loose and shake on guests. I understand that owners live at the resort and this particular resort allows owners to have dogs but when I'm paying $4,000 for a room, I don't expect to have to have a smelly wet dog bother me each day. I actually have a dog and like dogs but this situation was a little annoying.

There continues to be a LOT of construction of what appear to be very nice resorts on Grace Bay so my recommendation would find one of the resorts mentioned above one of the newer resorts under construction. For Le Vele to be highly ranked is laughable in my opinion. I have traveled all over the Caribbean and Le Vele is one of the most average resorts where we have visited.

Structually, Le Vele appeals to those who have an appreciation for modern architecture, and obviously that percentage of the travelling public is still a minority, particularly when travelling to the Caribbean. With regard to service, whilst we are a "limited service" property, we pride ourselves on the quality of service offered to our patrons in an effort to ensure they have a wonderful experience at Le Vele and indeed on the Island. As for our complimentary continental breakfast, we may have been confused with another property as we provide locally ground coffe and condiments in the suites, however the guests make their own coffee or tea at their leisure. Also, whilst we do provide the bagels, croissants, etc., they are purchased on a daily basis to ensure freshness. Guests also have the option to not have the breakfast if that is their choice. If the writer actually stayed at Le Vele, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with them and somehow offer the opportunity to make good on a stay which supposedly went wrong.

“Le Vele is a beautiful place to stay”

Le Vele

Le Vele is very quiet and serene. The rooms are contemporary and beautiful and the staff was very helpful. This is a very romantic place to stay! We found a great little waterfront restaurant that is very inexpensive and had excellent food. It's called Horse Eye Jack's. You need to drive a way to get there but it's a nice trip. After spending too much money at some of the restaurants it was nice to find this place.
