We stayed a week and found: a beautiful beach, friendly staff, nice grounds and good food. The rooms are very private and large. The staff was more accommodating to children than we expected. We didn’t have any issues with bugs or noise either. It is expensive, so don’t go if that takes the fun out of the trip.

“Serene and Elegant”

Stunning architecture and serenity make the Amanyara one of the top resorts I have been to in the Caribbean. The pavilions are spacious and beautiful. We stayed in one of the ocean front pavilions and had a set back view of the ocean and a semi-private cove to explore.

We chose to spend most of our time at the almost silent pool area, because we loved the giant couches/day beds surrounding it. The beach was great as well, and actually better if you are looking for shade because the umbrellas there are movable. That was actually one of my only quibbles with the pool area...shade is very difficult to come by because for some reason they umbrellas are built in to the ground and there are no portable ones available.

If you are looking for in your face service, this is not the resort for you. The staff barely utters more than a few words and are not on permanent rotation around the pool. It makes for a very quiet and peaceful vacation but some in my group complained it was hard to get any service if you wanted it.

Personally, that's what I liked most about Amanyara, it truly felt like a vacation from noise and hustle and bustle.

Prices are high, you know that going in. If you accept that...then you won't have much to complain about.

“Aman love affair.....”

Just returned from a 10 day stay, Christmas and New Year , in this beautiful resort. After a 30 minute drive along some "interesting " roads we arrived to be warmly greeted ,Aman style, and after a brief tour of the property , we were shown our "pavillion". We had a pond pavilion as all the ocean ones were taken, but we loved the fact that the deck was built over the water with day beds and plenty of room for private sun bathing, we could only see the roof of other pavilions although our sons could see one of the private villas from their room/deck. Pavilions are quite spacious, windows on 3 sides, high ceilings, good use of space in the bathroom/dressing area. Plenty of amenities, free mini bar, free phone calls, rooms were always kept spotless and we found room service to be prompt .Architecturally, the whole place is breathtaking, built and designed as only Aman resorts are, many places to relax and be pamered. Food was superb, although the service is slow, however this is the Caribbean and thats the pace ..slow...Beach is a little of the beaten track but is worth the walk, white sands and crystal clear water, of every shade of blue, I couldnt get enough of the view of the water . The beach guys are amazing and cant help enough, hobbie boats, kiaks, snorkeling off the beach or by complimentary boat 3 times a day. Great diving.Yoga, tennis and private spa treatments in your pavillion.
We chartered a boat for the day to see more of the islands around the Turks, well worth doing. We found all the staff to be courteous and friendly, never in your face, but there when you wanted them, although one had to get use to the wait at meals, but it was always worth the wait. On Christmas Eve the resort had a champagne get together which was a nice touch, and New Years Eve, apart from the long drawn out meal, was a blast, band, music, dancing and a brilliant firework display at midnight made sure we saw the New Year arrive in style. We loved our time at Amanyara as we do other Aman resorts, but is it worth the higher price tag compared to the other Amans.....the management was very visual, always taking the time to see if all was ok. and listening to you if you had a complaint.......yes there are a few problems, hopefully these will get ironed out, just go and have a wonderful relaxing vacation on this tropical paradise of an island.

“Amanyara”

This expensive but beautiful resort has some serious problems that other visitors and even the staff agree with. We stayed there for two weeks so was able to get a good feel for it. The good side: the architecture, lighting and space is gorgeous. The rooms or "pavilions" aren't huge but they are laid out nicely, usually with complete privacy from one to another. However, there are many problems: the overuse of toxic pesticides is horrible, it is located near the Caicos' incinerator so that there is an almost constant smell of burning garbage, the staff has a hard time following through with requests which can often get lost or forgotten. The price for food is very high: a small beef tenderloin (7oz) with no side dish at all is $40, a thin sandwich goes from $22-$28. Food took around 30-45 minutes to arrive at the table. Even though it's presented as being surrounded by a natural reserve there is no regard for anything similar to environmental sensitivity such as allowing the guests to choose if they want their towels and sheets changed every day. We talked to several guests who have been to other Aman resorts about these issues and they all felt that Amanyara was managed poorly, was too expensive for what you got and were disgruntled in general. Hope this review helps!

“Disappointed”

After getting married and staying at a beautiful villa on the island of Provo by the name of Bajacu for a week we opted to stay at Amanyara for our last week on Provo. Never having stayed at an Aman resort before but hearing rave reviews from our friends we figured we were in for a treat. Since Amanyara was a new resort and I heard they were going to be adding a spa, I asked reservations if there would be any construction at the time of our stay explaining it was our honeymoon. I was assured there would not.
We arrived at Amanyara after 5pm and were greeted by staff and taken to our ocean pavillion but they did not do anything special for us such as a bottle of champagne or flowers for our honeymoon. Not one thing! They didn't even greet us with a drink at check in. I was disappointed by this. I thought they should have done something. We had a nice dinner and fell asleep to the sound of the surf. This was pure heaven! When we woke up the next morning I could hear the sound of jackhammers in the distance and when we stepped outside to have breakfast at the table outside of our room the jackhammers could not be ignored. At first I thought the noise was from the construction on the roads leading up to the resort but then as we made our way to the beach I realized it was on the resort. Right next to the beach!
It was ridiculous, we could barely talk to one another never mind relax. It was like a bad dream and I was furious. Especially since I had asked about construction and had been told there wouldn't be any. So, I went to the manager and complained. He said there was nothing he could do and it was out of his hands. He then suggested we try the smaller beaches by the ocean pavillions to avoid the noise but didn't offer to do anything for us. This made me even more upset. I paid for the use of the entire resort not part of it. I went back to our room and started calling other resorts on Provo. Parrot Cay said they could accomodate us but we would have to change rooms halfway through our stay and they didn't have any beachfront rooms.
So, I dug out all of the paperwork I had with me regarding our reservations at Amanyara and by some stroke of luck I had the peice of paper with the email I sent to reservations asking about the construction. I then marched back to the manager and showed him. It was at this point that he asked what he could do for me but I wanted to see what he thought would be appropriate. He ended up discounting our room by 50% which was finally a gesture but that was never the point. The point is that they lied to me during booking when they knew what a special time it was for us and ended up ruining my honeymoon. I don't get that time back. When I dreamed of my honeymoon I certainly did not imagine jackhammers on the beach and arguing with management. They ended up sending us a bottle of Dom that night but the damage had already been done. I only wish we had decided to stay another week at villa Bajacu which was truly perfect and special. I think it's ironic that the name Amanyara is supposed to mean "peaceful place" since this was certainly not our experience. We tried not to focus on the construction and made the best of it but the whole experience left me feeling bitter. We will never stay in an Aman resort again.
