My wife and I have been to ST. Croix five times and we are planning our sixth trip soon. We never fail to stop at the hut to see our friends Norma & George. His actual name is Rufus George but he does not like to be called by his first name.
The decor is low rent, the roof is thatched, the pool table is ancient, the bar is tiny, the food is not very good, the rest rooms are barely passable and the floor is dirt. Geckos run all over everything but they are not a nuisance as much as they add a little local color. About three years ago they started a construction project next to the bar that is supposed to be a catering hall of some sort but progress on it has halted as of our last trip. No matter the place is pretty much the same.
The beer is always cold and the Mammawanna(Norma's homemade aphrodisiac elixer) isn't too bad. It is definitely George's choice for his favorite drink. Actually the attraction for us is not the beer drinking pigs, but the regulars that we seem to run into every year. I have not come across any unfriendly people on all of our visits. Norma is really a treasure, she could not be more pleasant and friendly. I can not wait until June to visit again. If you do stop to see them, sit down and relax. Listen to the music that just seems to come out of nowhere and I bet it will be one of the best experiences of your trip
