We recently stayed at The Hacienda Del Sol with friends and it has beautiful grounds with the pool, cactus, and other plants, but as the parent of a small child I can say the pool area is extremely stressful for anyone with a little one. That said we did have a good stay, but the beds in our hacienda were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in(plus they were twin sized), I think that our lil casa is in need of some upgrades, but it has some comforts of home. The Hacienda Del Sol is outside of La Paz, so if you are staying here you need to rent a car(I recommend Alejandro at Trifty La Paz airport, he is very professional and nice). The grounds are beautiful as I said before, but for us we were worried about our daughter and the pool, the gardener works very hard on the area and he is a very nice man. Eberhard and Renate are helpful and do like to have fun with the guests, if you choose to stay here do ask them about dinner at Atillio's which is close by. He is an Italian man with a small restaurant and his family is wonderful, plus he makes the best tiramisu I've had. If you want to be in the city this isn't the place to stay, but if you want to be out a little this is good. All in all our stay was fairly nice, this just really isn't a place for small children.

Eberhard & Renate are not only wonderful hosts, but they have a special knack for bringing people together. They welcomed all of their guests into their home for an intimate Christmas party and then arranged for a special dinner at a local restaurant for us all on Christmas Day. Every day was a new adventure as we explored the many out of the way places Eberhard recommended. Our room was clean, comfortable, and was supplied with all the basics. We were thankful for no televisions as it gave us time for many impromptu gatherings in the evenings to compare the days adventures with the other guests. The pool area was great and it was also nice to have the washing machine and "solar" dryer. The neighborhood was quiet and along with the beach provided lots of places to walk and explore. Above and beyond the excellent accommodations we were fortunate to meet some wonderful people and formed some new friendships which was an unexpected bonus to our vacation.
La Paz is an amazing city and we will be visiting again. We will definitely be staying at Hacienda Del Sol.

You are immediately greeted with the warm hospitality of the owners, Eberhard and Renate. We stayed in the palapa with our 3 year old yellow labrador retriever. The palapa was cozy with all the necessary amenities to make our 4 week stay thoroughly enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable. A very short walk to the beach and a short drive to all that downtown La Paz has to offer. Enough can't be said about Eberhard and Renate: they are friendly, generous, kind, hospitable, thoughtful, and wonderful people. They always go the extra mile to make sure your stay is great! Thanks to them, our La Paz trip was enjoyable and memorable, and we will be staying with them again!

We visited Eberhard and Renate many times already, sometimes even twice a year and we are like home there.
Only after a friend told us about this site we thought we have to give a review too.
We traveled all over the world and we honestly can say, that there is no comparison to the Hacienda. It is not only the very low price for the accommodations, it is the beauty of the little resort and most of all, the fantastic treatment we and all other guests receive from Eberhard and Renate.

Basically, the Hacienda del Sol is a great place to have a vacation and we can recommend it wholeheartedly to anybody who like to have an unforgettable time.
It is first class accommodation for motel prices.
Don't forget to bring something along for their charities. The place is a non profit organization and Eberhard and Renate working also as voluntaries for the local Red Cross, supporting the Orphanage and the Old Folks Home. What ever you can donate is greatly appreciated and they will go with you to their charities so you can give it yourself.
Try some times to stay at the Hacienda and you might love it like we do and if you have a health problem, Dr. Eberhard is fantastic too. There is also a defibrillator handy in case your "ticker" get crazy from all the beautiful time.
But reserve way in advance. The Hacienda del Sol is all the time booked.
