My wife and I spent January 8-10 at Coco Cabanas and found it to be as advertised. Most of the guests would spend some time around the pool talking and we met some interesting travellers. Barrett, the owner, is a straightforward guy who makes sure that the property is maintained daily. The downtown is about 6 blocks away with shops and restaurants, however there are a few small grocery stores within 3 blocks that sell the essentials. It's only a 90 minute flight from LAX on Alaska or Horizon.

Barrett and Stephen are great hosts. Very upfront guys. I have never been anywhere that brings you clams and fish for free to grill yourself. They have clean gas BBQ's to use at no charge. They also give you a tree ripe mango or two. The Cabanas are very clean with excelent kitchenettes. The pool is clean. The fishing captains Pedro for Yellowtail and bottomfish and Francisco for Dorado and Marlin are two of the best in Baja. I have been traveling and fishing in Mexico since 1973. I started fishing and vacationing in Loreto in 1986. By far Coco is the best value in all of Mexico. Barrett and Brother Stephen know all the in's and outs of the area and Baja. Loreto has something for men women and kids to enjoy. Coco is very safe and secure and only 1block from the beach and Marina. Its is also about 5 blocks from the center of Loreto. Coco also has bikes and Kayaks. (sp).Oh yeah don't play poker with the brothers they like wild card games.

Thanksgiving week at Coco Cabanas, and we were totally thankful for our excellent retreat! 8 beautiful, spotless cabanas (with bedroom, kitchen and dining table, bathroom, TV and video in each cabana, free video and book library, and wonderful little private patios) around a nice pool and palm-shaded patio. My husband and I have stayed with owners Barrett and Steve and their fine crew many times, and we've become friends. Barrett and Steve hand-built this little piece of paradise, and their pride and care shows. They are excellent hosts, and are also very helpful with arranging local tours, fishing trips, day-outings, and adventures on the beautiful Sea of Cortez. This is absolutely the best place in Loreto. Everything you need is provided - from bottled water to shampoo to "floaties" for the pool ,whichis crystal clear and the rooms are immaculate. Having a fully equipped kitchen ,lets you enjoy the fantastic accomodations without leaving for meals. The BBQ at the pool is a plus and the town square is just a couple of blocks away if you like to eat out .The beach is just around the corner.There is a large book and video library with vcr in each room. Barrett and his wife are wonderful and will help you in every way possible.Privacy and safety are no concern Everyone staying here is equally impressed and friendly and many are returning guests..I planned a 2 week stay and plan to extend for another week it is so nice. Highest reccomendation!!
