It's hard to describe a special place like the Coco Cabanas, because of its unique feeling of home and a tropical oasis all rolled into one. Our host Steve had the gift of making guests feel like family and the cabanas are immaculate and well equipped. Steve gladly arranged whale watching and fishing trips for us, which were both incredible experiences. We met and became fast friends with two other couples spending the week there as well. As I said, it's like family at Coco Cabanas. Palm trees surround the courtyard, and the pool is just steps from your door. We can't wait to go back.

My husband and I just got home from a lovely 4 day stay at the Coco. When I first followed the signs and it said to turn down this dirt road I was a bit worried. As soon as I saw the nice cabanas and pool my fears were put to rest. This was sort of a last minute trip to Loreto from La Paz so I was not sure if they would have any rooms. They did not have any of their 8 cabanas open but they did have the casita in the back. We were very happy to take anything we could get. It was very nice. There were 2 rooms, 1 with a queen bed and the second with a set of bunk beds and a full size bed. It was wonderful. I would have to say that one of the best features about this place is Steve one of the owners. When we first checked in he took us to our room and went over the rules and gave us his recommendations on places to eat. The 4 places that we tried that he suggested were all great. Our favorite by far was Quartro Altos for their hamburgers. It had to be one of the best burgers I have ever had. The other good part about the Coco is the way the buildings are set up. It really makes it easy to meet people. Everyone was so friendly and the place was very clean. You must stay here.

The Coco Cabanas is conveniently located for a walk to downtown restaurants or a nighttime stroll by the sea. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The owners (Stephen and Barrett) are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Whether you will be fishing, diving, seeing the sights or just soaking up the sun by the pool, I can't think of any reason to look beyond the Coco Cabanas when visiting Loreto.

But don't tell anyone. Let's keep this place our secret.

What a gem of a spot! We only had a week so we really appreciated our host, Stephen, clueing us in on the best restaurants, shops, tortillarias, grocers, etc. He never steered us wrong and provided us with a map of Loreto showing all his suggestions--all within walking distance of Coco Cabanas. He also arranged transportation and reservations for us to go gray whale watching, fishing, and kayaking, and linked us up with two other couples who were also guests interested in getting out on the water, thus defraying some of the costs. We DID catch fish which our captain cleaned and filleted for us. That evening we had an impromptu barbeque of fish tacos on the pool deck. An added bonus of Coco Cabanas is that Stephen's wife, Josi, is a masseuse and both my husband and I really appreciated her skill, flexibility in scheduling, and reasonable rate. Stephen brought her massage table right to our cabana. Convenience, cleanliness, friendliness, a pool and gas grill--Casa Cabanas has it all. We recommend it highly.
