“Best place to stay in Loreto”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

First time we have stayed at Las Cabanas, hands down better than any other place we have stayed at in Loreto.
Great hosts, good company in the other guests, very nice large room with good beds and large bathrooms.
Pool area is great for relaxing after a hard days fishing and the hot tub works wonders even in August!

We will be back for our next Loreto trip.

This was the BEST experience I've had in Mexico. The facilities lack nothing and the hosts at the time of our stay Rick and Jill are wonderful, gracious & helpful!

I've always wanted to stay, visit & live within the community I'm staying in and interact with the locals - and the town of Loreto and the Cabanas are a must.

The town is small, friendly and is thankfully missing all of the street vendors. Rick, Jill and their family have created an environment that is truly relaxing and rejuvenating. The outdoor grill facilities provided for several impromtu potlucks after our successful fishing trips...

The hosts maintain great relations with the local community by recommending wonderful locally-owned business and also contribute to the local animal welfare as well as an outreach program to educate children who live in the Baja Mountains.
I will be back!

Where to start is the question. Have never been to Mexico before and my wife and I had a chance to visit the town of Loreto with some friends and we all booked a week stay at the Las Cabanas de Loreto; a cozy small property with 4 plus cabanas about 30 yards from the Sea of Cortez. Again, having never been to Mexico before and all the myths that come from word of mouth(ie. don't drink the water) were all busted. The people in the town were as friendly as could be, knowing that we didn't speak much Spanish. The close proximity to the water for recreational needs and the incredible flaura and fauna of the desert were truly a must see.
The family that runs Las Cabanas de Loreto were very professional from the beginning stages of planning this vacation to the time they said "adios" as the van sadly took us back to the airport. We were able to switch days prior to our trip to accomodate our travel needs. We were emailed weather reports just days before our trip to know what to and not to bring for clothes. As we arrived they gave us a lowdown of the town and the hot spots to check out, had booked some of our recreational events ahead of time, told us the great restaurants to eat at ( they were all awesome, especially the fish taco stand), all while sucking down a pitcher of Margaritas. We used the bikes on the property to ride around town whenever we wanted (unless of course some of the other guests were using them) or kick back in the hot tub or lounge by the pool with a good book while soaking it all in.
The town of Loreto is not a very touristy spot for foreign travelers, as I have been told and by what I observed, and it does have its share of poverty, but the grounds of Las Cabanas de Loreto is like a diamond in the rough. And if this was what my first experience of Mexico was like, I think I'll be heading back South of the border, if not to a new destination, then back to Las Cabanas de Loreto.

“Great place to stay”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

My son and I went to Loreto on a fishing trip and our friend made our lodging arrangements so I was not sure what to expect. What I found was that Las Cabanas de Loreto is an oasis of comfort, relaxation, and great service. I could not ask more from the owners/managers Jill and Richard who were extremely helpful when our luggage was lost for two days to the point of lending us clothes and buying us toothbrushes and toothpaste and helping to find and get the lost luggage.

The accomidations were beautiful and comfortable and very convienient to the rest of the town - very helpful were the loaner bikes available to guests to use to get around town and shop (no need to rent a car unless going out of town). The pool and hot tub were a great place to unwind after a morning of fishing.

I don't usually write things like this but when you have such a great experience in such a wonderful setting, I felt compelled to write this review. When I go back to Loreto, I will absolutely stay at Las Cababas.

I’m writing this review against my better judgment -(I might not have a place to stay when we return) Everything about Las Cabanas de Loreto was perfect, right down to the comfortable beds.
The attention to detail is very noticeable through out the entire property- Las Cabanas de Loreto is close to town, markets, restaurants, and the malacon. We would highly recommend it, and look forward to staying again.
Thank you to our super hosts Rick & Jill
