Las Brisas should lose its standing in Leading Hotels of the World.
In 1990 we stayed for our honeymoon. Back to celebrate our 15th anniversary in 2005 with a 7 night stay. Let's see what the service problems were (even if fixed with a phone call, should not have been in evidence in first place):
No housekeeping 2 days.
No evening service / turndown 2 nights.
No breakfast delivery 1 morning.
Had to return 1st rental jeep for engine problems.
Bellavista staff could not figure out how to apply a dinner for 2 voucher against regular dinner menu pricing.
La Concha beach club had no towel delivery when they open at 10am the 2 days we went.
Apparently the resort is a major destination for Mexican families with kids during the summer. Acapulco is Mexico City's closest beach resort wiyth a relatively new improved highway linking the 2. So not the same exclusive romantic feel that it used to have. A nice enough place and we love the private pool concept.
Many great seafood dining opportunities available in town. Costco and Walmart available for stocking up on what you desire to have.
From the Princess out towards the airport, including the Mayan, the beaches are too rough for swimming. So note that if you are beach inclines, though the Costera beaches tend to be crowded.

“Services expensive”

The views, friendliness of the staff and willingness to help in any way are outstanding! You are not allowed to tip either as service charge is included in the room rate. However, you are either captive to the outrageous cost of eating onsite or you have to catch a cab into town which is about $15 roundtrip. You have to use their onsite cabs to get into town for $7, but can then use the VW beetle fleet to return at about $5! Or take a taxi as far as Walmart and then travel by bus at 40 cents for any distance. I was glad we were outside Acapulco as the city did not have a lot to recommend it, but if you just want to chill out at a pool with wonderful views and only go into town at night to eat, it works very well. Even with the cab ride, you save a huge amount of money not eating at Las Brisas. Food and drinks at the beach club are about $12 a meal and $4.50 a beer. We did go to walmart and stock up on snacks to take to the beach club! I agree that the pools do not stay clean for long because there are no filter systems especially if there is heavy rain.

“FANTASTIC!”

What an amazing hotel! I kept having to pinch myself to see if it was real. Went with my boyfriend and we both loved it. Gorgeous fresh flowers sprinkled in our private pool each morning, the immaculate room, the friendly service, the seabath at the beach club where you could swim with the tropical fish, the tasty room service, and the gorgeous retro pink and white decor: I felt like a 1950s starlet. And very reasonably priced (I got it for $150/night +$20 service charge). Yes Acapulco is a complete dump apart from a few good restaurants (the other reviewer is right when he says there is nothing to do) but we knew that ahead of time so were not at all disappointed - my boyfriend and I just didn't bother leaving the hotel. We stayed for 3 nights and I wish we'd stayed for a couple more. I will remember this trip for the rest of my life - every time i think of it I smile - and the colour pink will never be the same again.

“Dissapponting”

Las Brisas Acapulco

Stayed at Las Brisas for 12 days ending on July 1st (Honeymoon). I picked the hotel from its great reviews on this site but was dissappointed to find that it didn't live up to our expectations. First, the hotel is about 3-4 miles from downtown Acapulco and requires a $15 roundtrip cab ride to any activities. We averaged about $60 per day on cabs in and around Acapulco. Second, the hotel is old. It's not old in the "Nostalgic" sense, but old in the "paint peeling off the walls" sense. Third, on-site restaurants, shops, and room service are rediculously overpriced. For example, since we stayed for such a long time I needed to do laundry. Being more than 3 miles from town made doing it myself almost impossible so I had to use the service at the hotel. $4 FOR A PAIR OF SHORTS!!! I ended up spending about $70 for a few shorts and shirts. Fourth, the pools are dirty. It rained several times during our trip and as a result dead bugs, bees, and dirt would runoff into our pool from the roof. They did come and clean the pool once a day but without a working filter, the pool would almost instantly become dirty again. Fifth, Acapulco is a BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. The city is dirty, poor and old and there aren't really very many things to do.

In conclusion, I won't be returning to Las Brisas anytime soon. On our last day, our taxi driver took us to the Mayan Palace. WOW!! This is a much better hotel with more activities and much, much, better scenery. If you have to go to Acapulco stay there and enjoy a true tropical vacation.

Positives - Nice Beach Club, Friendly Staff, Great Housekeeping Staff, Beautiful Views, and Cheap during off season.

“Wonderful stay”

Spent a wonderful week in mid-April. As has been mentioned, the service, staff and view are top notch. We stayed in one of the "beach club" units with a private pool. We started out in a room on the "ocean" side in the 400's. I can't remember the exact number. We had a bit of a problem with the late night disco and hiway noise. The front desk gave us a choice of three different rooms the following day. We opted for a "bay" view casita, #330, that worked out much better for us.

While the city itself didn't have a lot to offer us, the hotel more than made up for it. Spent a lot of time at the beach club and lounging around our own pool. Great lunches at the beach club restaurant. Two more restaurants we enjoyed in town were "Su Casa" and "Coyuca 22". Also enjoyed the tour to Taxco. Long day but very interesting. Would definitely return to Las Brisas.
