A great place to get an icey cold Corona on a steamy evening.
This is currently my favorite hotel in Acapulco-- a way to enjoy the beautiful bay without being being on the hotel strip.
I stayed there for 2 nights with my daughter in April 2007. We had a room on the first floor which opened up onto the gardens. This was really great for me-- not only could I sit at the patio and look at the ocean and the Island, but it meant my daughter could play outside on the gardens while I read on the patio.
The gardens themselves were very lovely and it was very nice having so much private grounds, which included an inlet to the ocean (though not a beach), a good restaurant (with great sushi!), and a pool. Throughout the hotel grounds there are lots of comfortable places to sit and enjoy the view.
The rooms are very basic, so this hotel would probably not be good for someone who wants luxury. But for me the rooms were perfect. They were clean and comfortable and there was a/c though it wasn't particularly powerful. But what I enjoyed the most was the view from my patio and the grounds of the hotel!
The service was really excellent, too. My little girl got sick the last night (nothing to do with the food or water, don't worry!) and I was alone with her. The staff went above and beyond to help me and brought food from the restaurant even after hours, and other really considerate things.

Servicethe boca chica is an old school acapulco hotel. i am from cardiff, uk but have lived in mexico city for the last few years and have been to pretty much all the major hotels in acapulco in that time, so i know what represents value in this resort. although this place is in the least attractive part of town and is a little worn out it is the only place where you can snorkel in the whole resort. it has a perfect waterfront location around the corner from the very busy little beaches of caleta and caletilla and even at the highest peak season where you can hardly see the sand for people, the boca chica is around the corner and quiet. the rooms are outdated, the pool looks like it could do with a revamp, it could do with a repaint, but for little money you get breakfast included and the place has the best seafood and sushi restaurant in the city. the hotels on diamante are far superior but they also gouge you for money. depends what you are after really. if you want a good value, quiet trip, and to snorkel in aca, this is an excellent choice, i have been here several times. if you want the latest in hotels go to aca diamante, but take your wallet.

Business serviceMy girlfriend and I just got back from Acapulco, what a wonderful city. We stayed at Hotel Boca Chica for one week. We had a magnificent time! The veiw from our balcony were so beautiful. The rooms could use some updating/renovation, a little TLC would go a long ways but our room was clean and neat and that is all I require (not high maintenance). The room had everything you would need in a hotel room. The maid service was great. Our maid cleaned and mopped our room floors and provided fresh towels everday. If you are the type that require luxury in a hotel (high maintenance), this is not the hotel for you. I am already planning my vacation next year and will be staying at Boca Chica again.

ServiceMy adult kids and I stayed here for a few days after a business trip to Mexico City. We were looking for somewhere to wind down and chill out - and this was pretty good, and a good price. Unfortunately the rooms were not really fitted out adequately for three people, so my daughter and I ended up sharing a double bed - not ideal but ok if the bed is comfortable and it's for a short period of time. However the beds were probably at their best some 30 years ago and the fold out couch - well don't even go there! Our first (very cramped) room had a fantastic view of the canal and the island, the second had a fantastic view of the beach, and we did sit there and watch the goings on for hours. We traded off the view for a larger room, although otherwise there were no differences.
Unfortunately the staff we met didn't speak much English, and really nothing got explained, so we didn't go and spend much time on the beach, which I regret. The swimming off the pier was great until the jellyfish and the oil slick appeared, but the pool was clean and comfortable. The man with the snorkels turned up intermittently so my tip is to buy some cheap ones yourself so as not to miss out on the snorkelling as we did.
The rooms are really in need of re-vamp, in particular the beds and the bathrooms. Also, a pet peeve of mine - if there are three people paying for a room then there should be three towels without having to ask! The rooms and bathroom were clean however, and we found the aircon worked just fine. It's a good taxi ride away from anything, but then again that's why we picked it - and the gardens are lovely!
