We stayed here for two nights prior to departing on a cruise. Once we went downtown we were so glad we weren't staying there, but out on the smaller bay in Diamante. This place is a real oasis. Security is top notch at the entrance and the drive down to the property is very dramatic. This is real luxury enjoyed by a large number of wealthy Mexican families who were a real joy to be around. In my opinion, rooms 421-427 and 521-527 are the best (based on location). There is no obstruction in the bay view, you enjoy the well-manicured gardens and you are far enough from the pool to escape the inevitable noise. Restaurant service was excellent and food always fresh and tasty. I would stay here again but I would not use the American Express office on-site at the hotel; private transportation through them was very expensive and unreliable.

“Piece of Paradise”

Camino is amazing. Sucluded in a pictoresque paradise. You have to keep in mind that you are either stuck there (which is perfectly fine), or you have to rent a car to move around, or you can use taxis which are way over priced. Hotel itself is located on a hill, which allows it to have 3 pools on different levels with waterfalls. The beach is small but private and very nice. Rooms are large and every one of the has a ocean view (2nd and 3rd floors offer the best view!). Food in the hotel is expensive but very good, especially breakfast! Over all Camino offers a great feeling of luxury and comfort!

“Gorgeous!”

Camino Real Acapulco Diamante

My girlfriend and I just returned from a 3 night stay- As many others have said on this board- the Camino Real Diamante is well worth it. For the money, if you are looking for relaxation and seclusion, with great service and restaurants, then this hotel fits the bill perfectly.

Also I would say that upgrading to the "Club" rooms was worth it, we had a very large suite with a balcony overlooking the beautiful bay- free breakfast buffet (very good) and free drinks from 6-8pm.

The weather this time of year is fabulous- i think we could count the clouds on one hand the entire time we were there. Also the grounds are very well maintained- there was an army of support staff, and waiters ready to serve you drinks (ask for 2 for 1 drinks by the pool- there were all day long 2 for 1 margaritas and daquiries).

The restaurants were excellent- La vela by the water is one of the prettiest spots we've ever seen- and the food was almost as good as the view!

Also- we highly recommend Edel Genchy of Three Amigos- he took us on a great tour of Acapulco and was very polite and knowledgeable (and the cold A/C was great in his cab!). [--]

The only thing i would reiterate, as other reviewers have mentioned is that familiarity with Spanish is helpful. Many of the servers and staff speak broken English, or none at all (but usually you can get your point across). Also during Semana Santa (easter week), most of the guests are from Mexico City. And DONT come here if you are single and young! The place is dead by 9-10pm, and it was almost all couples and families- and to get to downtown clubs is a 30-40 dollar (not peso) roundtrip.

“Fantastic secluded resort!”

We just returned from a week at Camino Real Diamante in Acapulco for our Honeymoon. It was in the middle of Spring Break so we were nervous about being in Acapulco with many crazy Teens but had an amazing experience.

The resort had a nice mix of Americans, Europeans, and Latin Americans. It is Situated about 10 minutes outside of the city of Acapulco and about 10 minutes from the airport. To get to the hotel, you drive down a very steep road and the rooms are tiered down the side of the hill. It is a tropical setting with many trees and birds around.

The food at the two restaurants is great, try the Al Pastor fish tacos with grilled pineapple while you lay by one of the three pools. They have great service and made sure we always had whatever we needed. if you want a crazy disco, late-night party environment this may not be for you since you will have a cab ride everywhere but for a family get-a-way or romantic trip, this is a great resort.

Make sure to get a quote from the on-site travel guide for sea-doo rental since they are separate from the hotel and will try to bump up the price on you.... I don't recommend the deep-sea fishing since you will most likely troll for flying fish which are hard to find. We left at 5am to go out and didn't make it out on the water with the fishing company untill 7:30 am and didn't even see a fish (we then heard that this was more common than not) unless you have a lot of time, i would do another outing.

The staff was great, rooms were nice, and food was tasty.

“Fabulous Rooms overlooking the Bay”

Camino Real Acapulco Diamante

Stayed three days in Mar/07, great Hotel, thought the location was a little secluded but after reading other reviews about Hotel Road, very happy to be secluded, room view was to die for, staff extremely helpful and polite. We hired a Taxi driver named Franciso that was a true gentleman he took us to see the cliff divers and to a market, he was always near so we felt very safe, he drove us to a church on the hill and around the bay.

Had dinner at the restaurant overlooking the bay it was pretty good cost us $65.00. Breakfast buffet was very good with lots of choices of juice.

Gift shop was reasonable but did not see any beer or wine to purchase. Drinks at the bar were weak for us and considering we are not drinkers.

Would go back again this was our 40th Anniversary and loved the relaxed atmosphere.
