My husband and I just returned from a 6 day/5 night stay at the Qunita Real. It was a wonderful getaway. We booked the trip on expedia and were pleased. The rooms are very nice - marble tile and nice decor. The atmosphere is great around the entire resort. We were drawn to Quinta Real because of reviews about the top-notch attentive staff. It may have been the language barrier, but we found the service to be inconsistent. In the main restaurant, the food wasn't very good, and at times we were the only people eating, and the service was very slow.
One night we made dinner reservations through the front desk, only to find when we got to the place that we didn't have a reservation. The pool-side food and service was generally good. The in-suite service was great, and the turn down service is a nice touch. The pool is beautiful. The weather was perfect - mid-80' with a pleasant breeze.
The ocean was great - big crashing waves. The beach area in front of the Quinta Real is scenic, but directly adjacent is a public beach area that can get very crowded. You can position yourself toward the cliff so you see the ocean crashing on the rocks though. If you like sunsets, you'll be disappointed. Because Quinta Real is nestled in a cliff, the sun goes behind it around 5:30 p.m., so the pool and beach area are in the shade. The pool is warm though, and you can walk down the beach to stay in the sun. We went to two very good restaurants: Bakal, an upscale international restaurant and Su Casa, a hacienda off the beaten path in downtown. If you venture out, ask how much the taxi will be before you leave. We had very inconsistent fares. If you set on a price before heading out, you're much better off. The average cost one way to downtown is around $14. If you go see the famous cliff divers at the El Mirador hotel in Old Acapulco, do not eat dinner there. The food was horrible and was a flat fee of about $80. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves. We were looking for relaxation and found it in a fantastic setting at Qunita Real. Also, the locals seem to have a lot of pride in Acapulco, which is nice.
