“Loved the Grand Mayan!!”

Grand Mayan Acapulco

We stayed at the Grand Mayan 4/13-4/20 through an exhcange with RCI. We found the Grand Mayan to be #1 of all the resorts we have stayed and we have stayed at some fine resorts. The weather was perfect for a beach vacation. The rooms were roomy and nicely decorated and the housekeeping was outstanding. The staff was friendly and very prompt for every request. The grounds are just beautiful and well maintained. The lobby is just awesomely beautiful. The pool is sparkling clean and every day we strolled the entire length of the pool and enjoyed some of the activities of aqua-aerobics, learning to salsa dance and bingo poolside. The beach was beautiful, but the waters too rough for swimming. We enjoyed some awesome sunsets. Wow! The restaurants at the resort we enjoyed the most was Bakal and il Frorno di gio at the Sea Garden. The food was good and the price comparable to home. A trolly runs every half hour to shuttle you to the Sun Market store and Sea Garden. Since we ate out for most meals we just picked up essentials at the Sun market. Aside from the relaxation of the beach and pool, some highlights of our trip where Feista night at the resort. A great show with a decent Mexican buffett. Also, as you may have seen in other reviews, we hired Roberto Alacon as our driver and guide. We highly recommend Roberto. What a great guy! and gentleman!! Very knowlegable and accomadating to wherever we wanted to go. He took us on a great tour of Acapulco and one evenig to celebrate our birthdays, he arranged great seating and birthday suprise for us at the Linda Vista which has an awesome view of the bay. Roberto responds promptly to email so if you need to contact him, his emai is on other reviews here. You'll be glad you did! So, an excellent vacation ended with some wonderful memories! Enjoy!!!

Great trip week of April 19 to 26. We opted to have Ismael Siva pick us up. He is a pro who has been doing this for 28 years. Contact him and he can arrange an airport pickup, as well as a trip to Mega.
Check in was a breeze, being owners we got all that we requested. This is a slow week for them. I would not book around Cinco de Mayo unless you like lots of crowds.
Rooms were great as well as the maid service, turn down every night. Kitchen comes in handy as breakfast can be expensive.
We opted to go on 90 minute timeshare presentation. They gave us buffet breakfast for 4, tickets to the Cuban dinner show (don't buy the tickets to the show $50.00 get the presentation deal) and 10% off all room charges which saved us about $60.00.
We walked to the Wal-Mart one day, about 20 min. and then cab back, $5.00. Cabs are plentiful and safe, especially from the hotels. They will all wait for you, or come back for a round trip.Service around the pool and the beach was good. Never had to wait for servers. Food at the snack bar is not bad, and priced fairly.
Must see in Acapulco, cliff divers, trip to downtown, and dine at Linda Vista for the best view and the Mariachis at the Princess. Mention you are from the Grand Mayan and you will get 10% off you bill and the best table (Linda Vista). I left my camera in the cab and the cabbie brought it back to me. Good people are the Mexicans.
I would go back to Acapulco again in a heart beat.

“Grand Mayan Delivers During Spring Break '08”

All of the Trip Advisor comments are helpful, although we might differ on some of the accounts:

1. Some claim that they were charged for pool towels or in- room bottled water, that were unused. We did not have this experience.
2. Some claim that ocean view is reserved for owners. I would agree. We booked through RCI and were offered a lower floor room, with a side pool, from which we could see the ocean. Of course the goal is to not be in the room.
3. The SPA and work-out club. What a great secret!
4. You can pre-buy the buffet breakfast (20% discount). I'd recommend getting 1/2 the # coupons as there are people in the family.
5. Guides: The concierge was great. We rented a car ($361 for a Dodge Avenger for the week with Hertz) and he pointed out key places: cliff diving, restaurants, etc.
6. Walmart and SAMs are so close (10 min drive) that grabbing water, sun screen, etc. was easy.
7. There's free self parking

Yes the pool and ocean are great. The daily activities are a good distraction.

And for the kids: the water slides and lazy river are the perfect match.

“The Grand Mayan is Just That”

Grand Mayan Acapulco

Apr 18, 2008

We recently took a trip to Acapulco and stayed at the Grand Mayan. We booked our trip through mayanluxury.net as a golf resort vacation package.

We stayed a week and fell in love with the staff. We were exhausted from the flight, went to check in and the front desk was friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that we had to ask twice before they gave us an ocean view room. We decided to throw on some shorts and take a nap down by the pool. The pool was incredible and the wait staff was immediately seeing to our needs. This was consistent thoughout the week.

This was not our first time at a Grand Mayan. My wife had stayed at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta and immediately knew she was in some place special when she saw the 20 foot Mayan statues in the lobby entrance. Acapulco did not have these, but our stay was no less grand.

I like to golf so I took two days out of the week to golf at the Grupo Mayan executive golf course right there at the resort. I love it that all I had to do was walk to the course. The course was well groomed and maintained.

Overall, we loved our stay. We once stayed at a Mayan Sea Garden resort and although ok, was no where near the luxury and pampering that you will receive at a Grand Mayan. We recommend it very highly.

“Beautiful Hotel....but”

Grand Mayan Acapulco

Apr 18, 2008

Just returned from a 2 week, girls get-away trip to Grand Mayan. It is a beautiful hotel and the maid service was excellent, but can't say that the rest of it was super. To start it will cost you $30. USD roundtrip everytime you go into the city. There are only a few restaurants (3 at the Grand Mayan, 1 at the Sea Garden) available, (nothing within walking distance), only at the hotels, and they are very expensive for what you get. I am an RCI owner at another resort, so we didn't get the same amenities as at the home resort. Water park was $12. USD each day. Front desk staff was not very helpful and really gave the impression that they didn't care. Waiters (Smiley) at the Bakai restaurant was great. Pool and ocean front room was very nice, but not terrific. For the greatest adventures and day trips, be sure to contact Roberto Alarcon. He provides excellent service from pick up at the airport to day trips all over the area. He is a native and very knowledgeable and professional. As far as a return trip, never again to the Mayan.
