“Lots of Children!”

We stayed for 6 nights early in August. This is the time of year that the Mexican families go to Mazatlan on vacation. The front desk staff was very nice, the grounds are beautiful, the food was okay (very inconsistant, different cooks I think, sometimes it was excellent, sometimes so-so). Being so far north of town the beach was mostly quiet, which was very nice. We had a 2 bedroom on the 5th floor. The beds were comfy and all the amenities were there, but it could have been cleaner; the bathroom and kitchen in particular. The outside of the toilet was very drippy for instance. The maid stole a few cosmetic items of mine while cleaning (we only had the place cleaned 1 time). Other than that my biggest complaint is that there were always at least 25-30 kids in the pool at ALL TIMES! This made it impossible to lay by the pool and relax. There wasn't a pool time for adults only. The restuarant is supposed to close at 9-9:30, but closed as early as 8 a couple nights. The bar was even closed by 9. This was an inconvience for us. Perhaps during the American tourist season the place isn't so overrun with little kids and is more peaceful, I don't know. Honestly I wouldn't return.

“Great times time and time again!”

For the 3rd year in a row we rocked Mazatlan! We were greeted by first name by the reception staff because we are "regulars!" "Welcome home" they said. Were else do you get that kind of treatment? We know the employees too that's what makes Torres, is the people. And the activities of course; Rudy and Francis are there with kids and adult activities of all kinds this year I did the water aerobics! Some of theses employees have been there 10 to 20 years! Don't miss Ismael's drink balancing act or bingo with Rudy B-9!!!!!!! Salud, salud, salud!

As far as the resort goes it is at the north end of town at Playa Cerritios. I like being far away from the hubub of downtown and the golden zone. But those are just an 80 cent (8 pesos) air-condition ride away on the Sabalo-Cerritos bus. No need to take the pulmonias (open-air taxis) all the time, just when you are loaded down with shopping bags!

The resort is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. I mean big. Anything you need will be taken care of right away. They have expanded the restaurant to a bar patio area that catches the ocean breezes! Since the construction next door has run off most of the iguanas who used to sunbathe there they have moved to the rocks by the pool. You can get up close and personal with out having to trek to the jungle! We've been to Mazatlan so many times, but there is always something new to do and new friends to meet. We have made some life-long friend there tourist and employees alike! Go to Torres you will be glad you did....

Just got back a week ago from torres... i have to say it was a good place overall to stay at.. I stayed in the A section with a beautiful ocean view!.. The food at the restaraunt there was great..since iam only 19 yrs old it was great to be able to sit back and have a cpl margaritas with the adults lol.. Besides the sucky humidity everything was great.. the only bad thing i thought was the pool, the water felt like bath water it was so hot.. it was shallow also .. if you want THE BEST pool you've ever seen/been to.. you have to check out the El Cid's... not the one closest to the golden zone.. but the marina one..(there is 2 El Cid hotels resorts) the pool have rocks you can dive off of.. and it has a GIANT cave you can swim in and explore it was soooooo sweet!!! we had the day there which was great i wish we coulda stayed all week it was so fun..but the torres was relaxing its funny to see wild iguanas lol .. but they have a cpl by the pool.. but great place not to packed like the other resorts.. i cant wait to go back

“It's Like Coming Home”

Torres Mazatlan Resort

Jul 23, 2007

We've spent a week at Torres Mazatlan in 2005 and 2006 and regret not coming back in 2007. We loved this resort! It's a little off the beaten path and that's what made it for us. We wanted relaxation and we got it. We spent most of our days under the cabanas reading, sleeping, enjoying happy hour (you've GOT to try the mango daiquiris!) and cooling off in the beautiful pool.

The rooms are comfortable and well equipped.

Some notes: a taxi ride to and from the airport will cost you $25 each way. There are pulmonias (golf carts) zipping around everywhere, as well as an extensive bus system which stops right in front of the resort. You can ride to the Golden Zone for as little as 5 or 6 pesos. Make sure you find out what the pulmonia driver charges before getting in.

Take the city tour. It goes to El Mercado where the locals shop, a beautiful old cathedral, pearl diving cliffs (like Acapulco).

Thursdays is when the cruise ships come in, so that is a good day NOT TO SHOP! The prices in town go way up. Other than that, Mazatlan is a great place to go.

Like I said, we regret not going back this year.

we have just returned from 2 weeks staying at the Torres and have to say it was just paradise. The resort was as expected, spotless and the staff could not have been more friendly. The only downside was that the bar/restaurant closed 10.00pm every night.
favourite place in Mazatlan would have to be Gus y Gus, great food, atmosphere and music.
If it wasn't for the length of time it takes to get there from the UK {over 25 hours} we would be back time after time. Photos to follow
