“PROS and CONS”

El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel

Resort - Probably the best resort in Mazatlan. Love the pools they have. Beach in front of hotel was okay, we went when there are jelly fishes that stung a couple of people. Parasailing, banana boat rides, vendor peeps avail.
Room- 23rd fl - elvators are small and shaky ride. small kitchen so u can cook save money, beds are kinda hard. We got couple bed bites. Stayed at a 2 bdroom - 2 beds in master, 2 beds in other rm and 1 couch/bed in living rm...balcony nice view, but dangerous....
Timeshare peeps - all over the place, if u want free stuff do a couple of timeshares....lol
restaurants - expensive as hell...careful where u go.
fish market - cheap lobsters and shrimps....buy it there and cook it in ur room.
supermarkets - theres one below the hotel or u can go to MEGA and take the pulmonia.
Activities - Deer island, stone island, aquarium ( sea lions can talk spanish)

“Take the good with the bad”

El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel

Could make this story long, but I won't. The bad was that the beds were hard ( we already read that before we came) We had sofa sleepers to start with, BUT when my friend was in the elevator at the tower the cord broke on the elevator at the 4th floor, and she and a worker fell to the ground in the elevator. This was about a 20 min ordeal, and no one, NOT one person asked if she was okay, nor did anything. She had to go to the desk and ask if there was something she had to fill out. Then she went to the sales person on the time share and asked for the deposit back., and told them what happen. and share there Tower of doom she went threw. That nite when see and her husband got back to there room They had 3 chocolet covered strawberrys and a sorry note for any inconvence. Also The manager at the resturant down at ground level would not take our El Cid money when we asked to eat at that restruant. We had our short, shoes, and shirts on. I don't remember seeing a formal dress code posted. Management needs some training.
the Good. After the elevator fall they did move us closer to our friends on a lower floor. It was our 25the anniversary and the housekeeping decorated our bed with Hershey kisses in a heart shape and wrote congratulation in spanish with all the kisses on our bad, and made a certificate for us. That was so awsome cause they had just finished fixing our room. The waiters the whole time we where there were so nice, so fun, I really felt we made some good friends. WelI could go on. But the wait staff was wonderful, and the ladys in house keeping made our trip special.

“Elevator of DOOM”

This was the worst experience I ever had,If you are in for a terrifying elevator ride and don't mind the impact of falling 10 to 12 feet to the ground in a elevator with no acknowledgment from the hotel staff this is the place to be.
The thing was, I was treated like I made all this up and no follow up was done. I thought to myself does this happen all the time and thats why this traumatic situation was treated so poorly. I was glad this wasn' t an expectant mother and elderly person or a child that would have to go through this. I have never been so frightened in my life and hope this never happens again to anyone.

“beautiful resort!”

Beautiful resort. Wonderful view out the room and the restaurant had great food. Breakfast buffet was good. Our room had a sweeping view of the pool and ocean, and we left the doors open all night and slept with the ocean sounds. The beach area was a little difficult to get to from our room and took a while. No real access to the ocean without being on the sand, which was alright. We were in another hotel where the restaurant and pool were pretty much right on the ocean. The timeshare pressure was a little much, they kept calling the room. I would stay there again in a heartbeat though.

“Love the El Morro Suites”

El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel

I booked a room at the Castilla and had heard they were upgrading people to the El Morro because of the repairs on the Castilla pool. Well sure as heck upon check in they told me they were putting me in a 1 bedroom suite in El Morro. Sweet! That's about a $400.00 perk. I was on the 15th floor looking over the ocean and the Morro pool. The room had everything I needed including a full kitchen. The water temperature in the shower was inconsistent as always and I guess that will never change. When I first got there I had a problem with the lock on the safe and maintenance showed up five minutes after I called and promptly fixed it. I ate at La Italia, Costa Marinara, and at the hotel. All were very good. The staff at the hotel were very attentive and I never had an issue. It looked like they were filling the Castilla pool the day I was leaving so I guess the free upgrades are over. I will be coming back to Mazatlan in October for some fishing and will be staying at the Castilla on that trip. I have been going to the ELCid in Mazatlan for several years now and as well as I have been treated I don't think I will be staying anywhere else. Viva Mazatlan and viva El Cid!
