“Absolutley beautifull grounds, and unbeatable staff!”

Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay

We stayed the week of 5/17 to 5/24. The grounds are amazing, and beatifully kept. The staff is amazingly nice. Jorge waited on us one night at Kelly's bar, and then we saw him the next day, and he just stopped to talk. Here in Seattle, servers would lead you to believe that you are lucky to have them wait on you. It was refreshing to meet people who were genuinely warm, friendly, and would go out of their way to help.

The weather was absolutley beutifull the whole week, cooling off just enough at night to have a drink outside without sweating.

The only drawbacks were other travelers, such as the guy who gave the resort a bad review because the internet connection wasnt fast enough. I can see why other countries hate Americans

“5 Stars in Mexico, 3 Star in the US”

The property is immaculately kept. Overall we had a great stay. They rooms are very well appointed and large, but there is a lingering smell of mildew and mold, (maybe time to replace some of the old stained, foam furniture. This smell permiated at times and was not confined alone to the rooms but also the chairs at the restaurant.)
The pool is great. Kid friendly.
The service at the pool was satisfactory, extremely slow with the drinks, and when it's 85 degrees a long wait for a drink, is just too long...
My real issue with my experience is that I called four times and even emailed once without a response, but the four times I called they said they had high speed internet; well, they don't have highspeed internet, anywhere. I was told that at the deli there was highspeed but the fastest my laptop showed was somewhere around 300KB plus or minus, in my room we had good old dial up at 56KB, and they have the nerve to charge you for this service. I was there to do business and ended up not being able to do my presentations.
Anyways I could go on, but when it came down to it this was a major let down because I lost out on a significant amount of money; that'll take the sails out of your trip; and to top it all off the concierge and the front desk and even a night manager who tried to convince me they had 2MG upload (yea, right...) failed miserably in my expectations of customer service when I requested multiple times and gave the same explanation over and over, to have them remove the charges from my bill for the dial up internet connection.
Would I stay at Pueblo Bonito again? NO. Would I recommend it to a friend? NO.
It's five stars in Mexico cause you can drink out of the faucet and flush your toilet paper down the toilet; but this is just a made up three star hotel at best.
Check your bill the night before you leave. I saw a woman while I was checking in who had a multiple charges to her room that were not hers. She would say to the front desk -This isn't my handwriting. And the front desk just smiled and said -Okay, no problem we'll take that off. But if she had not said anything you know she would've gotten taken. One of the couples we were traveling with had a similar experience. Be careful with that.

“What a Joke”

Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay

May 2, 2008
3/7 found this review helpful

Well, to start we planned a year in advance for this vacation. The first time using our time share. WHAT A JOKE! These salesmen are amazing at what they do, but what they told us and what we got was nothing alike. With our conformation in hand we were told they had given all the rooms away. So they put the 4 of us up in a room with ONE KING BED. Oh what a great night that was. Of Course we did get 3 free drinks for the trouble. Then we finally get to move to our room (yes the one we booked a year in advance) we had to wait to go in until 7:00 pm that night. Their reason for this is that the other people before us just would not leave by the posted check out time. A couple more free drinks. Oh Boy WHen we bought into this time share we were told of a magnificent 72 hole golf course that would be in last year. Well guess what not happening. We were told that the golf course was scratched because of cost. The next gripe is more about the service and cost of things at this hotel. Poor service pool side, and drinks that cost $8.00, this is not Hawaii!! Or is it?
The dinners we ate were at least $80.00 per night for the 4 of us. I would not recommend buying into this time share. Probably a great place to visit if you don't own time in it.

Hello fellow travelers. We bought a week every other year in a master suite. This is our first year of useage. My wife, and 9 year old son vacationed from April 1st thru the 14th. As a side not, We were told when we bought there would be a Greg Norman Signature Golf Course we could play on with exclusive rights as owners of this private club. Well, It's 2 years later, and I didn't see any golf course. Locals in the area laughed when I inquired about it , and say when or if it's ever built that it will be a public course? They are however, building 1.3 million dollar villas where the golf course I was shown in pictures was supposed to be. You can buy a month long timeshare at one of these for $178,000 plus 18% tax, with a maintainence fee of $6,700 per month if that suit's your vacation needs. Enough of that. Here is an honest opinion of our stay. We arrived in Mazatlan to beautiful weather. Our Bonito shuttle welcomed us on time, and was a very nice shuttle service. Our check in went smooth, and we were put in a 4th floor Junior Suite for our first week. We used our Master Suite the second week. The Junior was decorated nicely. It showed some wear, ie , dented in refrigerator, cracked tile, and rusty hinges on kitchen cabinets. Our Master Suite was also nice. A few cons about it though were the pull out sofa bed in the living room. There is no mattress. Your hip grinds on the wood frame of the sofa. Also, there is a distinct foul odor in the rooms? Our king bed was very comfortable, and the pillow service is great. The maid service is top notch. The food in the La Cordelire restaurant is very good. The service is poor. My wife had to ask for water refills daily, and the waiter rarely came to check on us. The deli food was very good. The store was nice also. Try the Jumex juice. It taste's like fresh squeezed. The pool food was good too. The pool waiters were real nice. Hector was the best. We recommend you have dinner at La Cordelaire on Monday night which is Surf and Turf. They bbq out on the patio, and the food is great. The Mexican Fiesta we enjoyed a lot on Wednesday night. Concierge is absolutely terrible. We signed up for City Tour by Night which was advertised on a board at the activity center by the main pool. It described visiting the cliff divers, market, cathedral, and a fine dining experience at Plaza Machado. Since we wanted to eat at a restaurant in the plaza recommened by my father-in-law called Topolo's, which by the way we ended up going to the next week, and was excellent, we decided the tour was a great way to get there. Well, our tour guide was a deceitful man named Eduardo Marks, the activity director at Emerald Bay. He took the large packed bus of people to Casa Maya to purchase goods. The store is real nice, and we ended up buying a nice Talavera serving dish. After an hour there, we went to see the cliff divers. That was really nice to see them dive with fire sticks. After that, the bus pulls up in front of the Shrimp Bucket. When I got off the bus, I asked Eduardo Marks why we were eating at the Shrimp Bucket? He told me they were his friends, and this was a good place to eat. I told him I thought we were going to Plaza Machado? I ate my food, and it was average. My wife ate half her meal. She told the waiter her shrimp were too salty , and he did nothing. We never stopped at the market, as it was closed. We drove right past the cathedral, and stopped for 15 min. at Plaza Machado. Our 5-9 tour got back at 11 pm and I went over to Concierge and voiced my complaint. I talked to Alecia. I might as well talked to a post. She said she would talk to her boss. I went back 3 times to inquire. 4th time my wife was put on the phone with Eduardo. He apologized, and said they would change the sign. He offered to give my son a free day in the kid's club, but my son didn't want too. He promised to make it up to us. We were there 3 more days. He did nothing. No word. Do not get stroked into this tour or any other marketing scheme by this so called 5 star resort. Overall, we had a great time, other than this. It is beautiful here. The grounds are gorgeous. We wish you a great vacation.

What a great vacation. I have 2 teenagers, 13 & 15 and we all had a great time at the hotel. We arrived very early at the Hotel, 7am, and they had a room for us ready to use, no additional charge for the early check in. The Master Suite is highly reccommended, big enough for the whole family, just make sure you ask for 2 doubles instead of the Queen.
Poolside service was great, fun activites all day, and I reccommend the City Tour for only $7, well worth it.
