I found out about this site from another irritated Los Arcos customer who said she was going to give a piece of her mind. This is the classic bait and switch. You get the awesome room online, and get there and its a dump. We had stains on the sheets and towels, and i killed one cockroach and trapped the second and took it as a gift to the front desk. they upcharge for everything, their pool towels are gross, and the staff is surly, and perfectly uwilling to accomodate you. I paid an additional $100 just to get a tolerable room, and was at the front desk yesterday and saw the same exact scenario happening with yet another guest. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Being a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels, I found myself a little disappointed upon arrival at this hotel for a few reasons...

1) The picture this hotel advertises with makes you believe it is ON the beach. It is not. It is about 1.5-2 blocks inland. The real beachfront hotel is in fact another hotel, named Los Arcos Hotels.
2) The kitchen area and bathroom is very basic and dated.

In the end however, I felt that for the price this was an excellent choice. It was quiet whereas the Los Arcos Hotel that is right on the beach was quite loud. I know as I had to cross the busy street in the front and go through the noisy swimming pool area of it to get to the beach and to get my beach towel. At night the street in front of Los Arcos Hotel is packed with partiers.

Los Arcos Suites on the other hand is removed from heavy traffic and noise because it is is inland and because there are buildings between the rooms and the noisy areas to block the noise. I was able to sleep in every single day. While it could use a little updating to make it perfect, it is a good trade-off overall. It is also in a great location so it is quick walk to downtown, Rio Cuale, or to the less-hectic beaches in the south of the old town.

I just returned from PV - and before going I stumbled upon this link, which gave me great concern about the place my sister and I had chose to stay. The reveiws posted below prompeted me to call the hotel directly and confirm our reservation.
It also helped me clarify that there are 3 Los Arcos properties ... the Playa, the Suites and the Hotel. I clarified that our reservation was at the Suites. When the cab driver, who was arranged via the vacation package we purchased, tried to drop us off at the Playa, we had to tell him we are at the Suites. So be sure you know exactly which property you are staying at before you go. This may have caused the confusion for the folks complaining of not having their reservation honored.
Upon arrival we had NO trouble checking in. We found the rooms fine - very clean and roomy. When staying at the Suites you have access to the Playa, the beach and all the hotels ammenities. It is a lovely place. The staff was GREAT - say 'Hi' to Ignacacio [the best 'chico de cabana' in PV!. It is also in a GREAT location - just to the south of old town at the end of the malecon - where there are markets and good restaurants - even the curbside taco stands have great food! one thing to look out for ... 'cuidado andole' & remember that every dude says he's a millionaire after midnight!!

We stayed at Los Arcos Suites for 10 nights and had a room next to the pool, which was heated and seldom used. Staff cleaned the pool every morning and checked the chemical levels frequently. The enclosed courtyard where the pool is located stays quiet and provides a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The room had a king-size bed with a firm mattress and extra pillows, a refrigerator and stovetop, hairdryer, in-room safe, tv with many channels and a remote, table/chairs, and sofa-sleeper. We generally tipped the maid about a dollar a day -- and always had plenty of towels and a clean room.

Guests can also use the facilities at Playa Los Arcos, and we usually spent some time on the beach there everyday. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and large beach towels are provided. There are great restaurants nearby -- Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc.
Try "Mama Delores's Diner" -- go left on Olas Altas as you leave Los Arcos Suites and walk about 3 blocks.
It's on the right side of the street.

We walked to the Malecon at least once a day, and the location is great for catching buses anywhere. We used the local buses to go to Nuevo Vallarta, the Marina area, and also to Chico's Paradise (restaurant in a beautiful jungle location)-- Take the bus marked "Il Tuito" which goes past Mismaloya and Boca de Tomatlin...then, have a great time!
