We stayed at Los Tules for 5 days in September. My husbands family booked their two weeks of time share at this location and we tagged along. We stayed in a large condo w/ kitchen (sleeps 10, 3 bed/ 4 full bath). Cleaning staff was in each day and did a good job of keeping up with towels and such. The grounds were always clean and the staff were always helpful. There are 7 pools (two children's pools) spread throughout the resort. The restaurant on the grounds serves a combination of very good mexican and standard american meals. Average price for two people including tip was about $18. Happy hour is 4-5pm 2 for 1 drinks.
Because we were staying condo, it was important to be able to buy food/drinks for the room. Just across the street is a small shopping mall with a Gigante (much like a super Walmart). We were able to get groceries as well as an occasional snack. If you get a chance, try the rotisserie chicken place just outside the main entrance. Great deal and great food!!!
Another recommendation is Casa Blake's (sports bar). It is just south of Los Tules (same side of the street about 3 stop lights). The food is excellent, well presented and served by some of the nicest people ever. Casa Blake's is owned by a lovely Canadian couple who are more than happy to chat or to turn up the volume on your favorite NHL, CFL, NFL game. There are mexican favorites as well as some standards (spaghetti, wings, etc). Excellent food and a great price (draft beer 1.50 and bottles 1.80). See website for more info on specials and location.

If your looking for fine dining with great atmosphere... try the River Cafe. The food quality is that of any fine dining establishment here in Chicago. Price are similar. (We averaged $80 per couple w/ drinks and desert). They serve a magnificent breakfast as well as lunch and dinner.
Overall, would stay at Los Tules again mostly due to location.
