“Great Value and Location”

The hotel offers good value and a super location in old PV. Close to the beach and everything withing walking distance. The room was spacious, TV was small and I dont' think it worked properly, but didn't care as I wasn't there to watch TV. A/C is new and quiet, bathroom could have been a little cleaner. The hotel is old and sometimes old stuff never looks clean no matter how clean it really is. Have to say that the hotel staff were very friendly and nice. Would stay there again.

“Great service, terrible room”

I chose this hotel based on the reviews on this site. The staff are very friendly. The location is great. The breakfasts are good. They have good wireless internet and nice TVs. The rooms however are very bad. I was given the choice of 3 different rooms and they were all bad. If this hotel were to renovate the rooms it would get 5 stars. Probably would not stay here again.

“Keeps Getting Better”

Hotel Mercurio

This was the 3rd year that we have stayed at Hotel Mercurio and each year the ammenities and service keeps getting better. Yes its a small hotel that caters to the gay clientele but it is not a hole in the wall. Over the past two years they have upgraded the AC units, installed flat-screen TV in the rooms and at the pool, and now they are installing another upgrade to the TV system. The service is wonderful. They take your luggage up when you check in, give you a free drink upon arrival (when the bartender comes in which is around 3pm), provide all the info that you may need, and above all it is close to everything. We will certainly be back next year and can't wait to see what you have new for us on the next visit.

This hotel is fantanstic. The rates were reasonable. The service was very friendly. Just everyone who worked there spoke English. They were very helpful. The free daily breakfast was tasty. It was a real breakfast, not just continental breakfast. The rooms were clean and nice. I highly recommend this hotel to any gay traveler.

“Some considerations”

Hotel Mercurio

My partner and I recently returned from a wonderful six day trip to PV. The best decision we made was to stay in the Olas Altas section as it is a safe easy walk to anywhere, in an area that best reflects the true charm of the area.

Our review of the Hotel Mercurio, however, is somewhat mixed.

First the good….
The hotel is in a great location. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the pool/lounge area charming. Breakfast was complete, consisting of eggs, meat, fruit, yogurt, juice, and wonderful muffins/pastries. Cocktails, served during the evening, are reasonably priced, and provide a wonderful opportunity to meet other guests. There is a computer for guest use, and wi-fi access.

Now the bad….
We were booked in a “deluxe” king room. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed even with modest expectations. I would like to describe our room as “rustic”; however, it was more like a cheap motel room. The moderate sized room was a square with a separate bathroom. The closet was built-in shelves covered with a curtain that protruded into the space. In one corner there was a sink/counter that was covered in old, chipped tiles. The TV was definitely not plasma, but a small screen, older model suspended high on the wall “hospital room” style.
The bathroom was quite cramped. For some reason, the toilet was positioned directly towards the shower wall giving very limited clearance making it impossible to sit with your feet on the floor. My partner, being slightly taller than my 5’8”, had to put one leg through an open part of the shower, while I basically sat “side-saddle” in order to be comfortable. In addition, we had to jiggle the handle after each flush to stop it from running. While showering, water often went from comfortable to scorching-hot , and there were constant “clanks” and “thunks” from mechanical operations 24 hours a day. Finally, voices from guests reverberated late into the night outside of our room.

In all fairness….
We were able to take a peek into another deluxe king room on our floor. Both the living space and bathroom were spacious, well-appointed, and appeared to have been recently renovated. I would recommend that the owner consider reevaluating the rate structure to represent not only the number of guest but the quality of the room. Had we known, we would have been more than willing to spend accordingly.

All-in-all we would consider a repeat stay, however, I would call to verify room location and description.
