“Stay Away From It!”

Our one week stay at this hotel was far from what we expected from a Howard Johnson. The hotel is run down, dirty and musty.
The furniture was old and dirty, as was the bathroom. Our room was so awful and noisy (beside the restaurant) that we requested to be moved. We got a room on the third floor (no elevators) but somewhat better. The floors were so full of hair that I cleaned it myself with a dirty towel. Under the beds there was so much dirt that I am sure it has not seen a mop for some time. Some days we could not get towels until the end of the day.
The linens were stained and questionable. The hotel has no ice, and only one glass per room.
The pool was nice but somewhat cold. The restaurant was not bad. We had the breakfast buffet , there was good variety.
The evening buffets were something else. The food not bad but the prices which are not posted kept changing, depending on who was serving you.
Best advice I can give is go to another hotel.

“Worst hotel I've ever stayed in”

We happened upon this monstrosity via a time share scam. We went an listened to receive our "Free trip" and the company turned us over to a travel agency. We had to pay "taxes" on something to go and when we finally found out where it was we were staying, I came directly to TripAdvisor to see what the real deal was. Back in July we went to Cabo San Lucas and stayed at an amazing hotel, we looked up this one and realized it wasn't going to live up to that standard. That was ok, as long as it was clean and safe, it would be fine. When we arrived I was horror stricken! Located at the end of the marina overlooking a barren junk yard accross the water and next to the trash pit where old dirty boats are stored, this place is surrounded by a chain link fence. Accross from the Westin, it sits with it's busted fountains, cracked tiles, and chipped and faded paint. The front desk attendants look at you like you're from Mars if you don't speak Spanish, but then when it's time to tell you that they're going to charge you $40 if you don't return the crapy TV remote, their English is just fine! With a grain of salt we took our room key to go see our room. There was a puddle of dirty water in our bathroom, a leaky sink, the TV wasn't even worth turning on, the couch was busted so that each seat went in a different direction, and the walls were dirty! The room was musty and reaked of baby powder. We went down stairs to the "restaurant" only to find fly infested food and burgers who's meat had been mixed with breadcrumbs so that it was completely tasteless and had a terrible consistancy. And the drinks? Who puts Sprite in a Margarita? Esspecially in Mexico! After going over to the Westin to grab some real drinks and food, we passed out in our room because that was the only way we could sleep there! The next morning I found out why there was an overwhelming smell of baby powder. The room smelled of cigerettes! Luckily the time share we went to was amazing and we decided to buy. Everyone we met and told where we were staying had no idea this hotel existed or thought it was closed down! After hearing how terrible our accomodations were, the resort paid for us to come get our things and stay there instead for free! We stayed in the lap of luxury and were saved from the worst hotel we'd EVER stayed in. DONT STAY HERE!!!

“Beware!”

We booked this hotel through Nolitours. Even though we got a really good deal we seemed to have nothing but trouble with this establishment from the time of our arrival. After arriving at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning we were checked into a room with two twin beds, no hot water, no towels, no a/c, and were told that it would only be for one one night as the hotel was overbooked. We were both so tired from our day of travelling that we didn't question and just attempted to sleep in the two cot-size beds. Not much luck! In the morning we went for breakfast. There is only one 4 slice toaster to service the entire hotel. Food was OK, but there was little selection. Our Notitours rep, Robert arrived at the hotel around 1:00. He managed to get us moved to a better room, however, the card keys they give out at this place do not work, which could force two or three trips back down to the front desk just to get in the room. This became very frustrating. We asked Robert to look into upgrade options for us, because we could already see that our week was going to be very frustrating and we couldn't really forsee a light at the end of the tunnel. Long story short we were moved out of this 1 star hotel by Monday at 1:45 and on our way to the Villas Vallarta. Thanks Robert for all of your professional service. We only regret that we had to leave some really great new friends behind. We hope that Nolitours reconsiders offering this hotel in their brochure, or in the very least please have it checked again before including it in the brochure for next travel season.

“Great Staff”

We just returned from a weeks stay in PV. Even though the Howard Johnson is a bit run down and in need of some work, the staff was absolutely awesome! It is rated 3 star on some websites but I would say definitely a two or two and a half star. The food was so so....you definitely won't starve but it did leave something to be desired! We flew with Air Transat which included two nights of a la carte meals....they were awesome! The staff will do almost anything for you if you ask them. They offered to bring in some of PV's awesome shrimp and cook it for us or said we could bring our own in (or any other kinds of food) and they would cook it for us! We did buy shrimp downtown and the cook prepared it to perfection...it was wonderful! We did that for a couple of meals...I would recommend that! Vidal, Manuel and Alphonse are excellent staff that love to entertain and make sure you have a great holiday!! The hotel is not on the beach but a 10 minute walk takes you to a beautiful beach at the Westin Regina...you can use their chairs but there is no free food or drinks there so take your own! The water was cold but beautiful! It is also nice watching the boats and yachts come and go during the day. The pools at the hotel are awesome! If you understand that is only an over rated 3 star hotel, you will love it! We would go back!!!

“AWFUL!!! TERRIBLE!!! This is TRUE!!!”

I will be brief! you can also read the bad reviews here and I can tell you I agree with each one of them!!!
Linens stained; towels...mmhh...towels?!??; hot water?! if you want to waste 30 minutes of your beach time then wait, you MIGHT get it; Restaurant, not many choices at all, food cheap so all inclusive is a joke!; if you are with a girl don´t leave her alone one minute!!! it is NOT SAFE; big room, bigger noise from the AC; inconvenient hours for the restaurant; no 24 hours service; no beach access; very cold water but nice pools; something that looks like mosquito bites all over my wife´s body, although they were not mosquito bites; lonely hotel, no wonder why!; at the end of the road literally; the greatest view you have is the mirror or hopefully next to you; in very few words my advice is DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!! Howard Johnson, take your name off this property!!! I would do that!
