We stayed at the holiday Inn from march 28- april 4th. It was a very fast week, and had no problems with the hotel. Reading some of the reviews prior to going on our trip , I was really hesitant and kind of bummed out to be reading all the bad things that was said..so I didnt know what to expect. We got there our room had a nice ocean/pool view it was 525. It was very clean, the only thing I would tell someone is if you have a little mini bar fridge... They are not free... It sucks because at first you get all excited but then after you see a paper that tells you all the prices that you have to pay. Water is like $2.50.. pretty pricey. So what we did... We went to the walmart, which is about a fifteen minute walk or a 5 minute cab ride and picked up some bottled water.. 6 x1.5 L bottles for onle 2.50.... it will last you the whole week, seeing as you cant drink the hotel water. That worked out really nice!!! There is also an atm there as well if you wish to take out money becasue there isnt one at the hotel. If you want to exchange money i wouldnt suggest doing it at the hotel, they dont have the best rates ever so you might want to find a different place if you are doing larger amounts. The food was good.... although after a week of seeing and having the exact same things it got sooooo repetitive, especially for the breakfast, its good but just to warn you its all the same. You can reserve 2 restaurants they have at the hotel only once per week. The Italian and the mexican. The Italian is wonderful!!!! Go there!! It is really fancy with food is great and the desserts are so nice looking, and the spanish wine is to die for!..The mexican is also good, not as classy as the italian but very good as well, you get lots of food though!! If you like coffee try it from either of the places, its a really nice production they put on for it!
Cons:
*The pool closes at 8 and there are no lights in it at all
*If you want night life...dont stay at the hotel, it is not so good haha they have a few shows but they are short, one night we even played bingo... so I would suggest if you want a party night life there are some clubs close that you can ask about.
*Repetitive food(But not horrible)
Pros:
*Friendly staff
*clean rooms
*travel rep was very helpful and kind
*Canopy tour!!!!!!!!! Do it its worth the money its super fun!!
*Go to the Malicon..Its a ocean boardwalk with tons of shops by it.
*Italian restaurant!
*View is wonderful, nice beach.
*The snack bar has the best burgers!!!!
*massages on the beach were excellent!!! 70 u.s for two people for one hour or so!
Over all this was a good hotel we had no problems, I think some of the people who wrote bad reviews of it were either to critical or something, we found it alright no complaints!
Just rememeber ,a lot of people who work there rely a lot on the tips they get from travellers, so leaving 2 dollars or even a one to every person who serves you or helps you out is appreciated!!I would come back!
