WOW!! This was absolutely "top shelf"!!! We travelled with our two children (12 and 8) and had the best time we have had in years.

Vallarta Shores is one of the best vacation spots we have ever visited. Though we travelled during high season (spring break), the staff at Vallarta Shores assured our vacation was a relaxing and safe break from it all. Because it is located on the south side of the main beach, we were far enough removed from the night life but close enough to get to it when we so chose. Nestled on the south side of Playa de Los Muertos, Vallarta Shores is literally a "stones throw" from the Pacific Ocean -- we just had to make sure we did not hit our private pool or personal cook with "that stone". Vallarta Shores is proof positive one can visit a high traffic area and still feel far removed from the hustle and bustle that can come from travelling that time of year.

We were walking distance from downtown and every other accomodation we needed during our 8-day stay. However, if we needed a ride, the staff was there to make sure we got it -- if a taxi was unavailable, they simply fired up their car and took us where we wanted to go. The property itself, is by far the nicest, most accomodating, and personable in Vallarta. We were fortunate to book one of their two penthouse suites (if you get the chance -- do so -- it is well worth the price) which came equipped with a cook and daily cleaning staff. The cooks (Dulce and Ruben), prepared some of the finest and cost effective meals we have had in years. It was almost like we had our own 5-Star chef at our disposal. Our first night was met with a personal greeting from the ownership -- an extremely nice touch. When asked why, they simply said that they were around and thought it would be nice to meet up with us and share some Mexican hospitiality.

We had our own private swimming pool, but the public pool was equally nice. When we arrived, though we did not request it, they had pool toys for the kids. Regardless, we would have been equally satisfied if we would have booked one of their basic rooms, which were very roomy and well maintained. On those days we wanted to just stay beach-side, Vallarta Shores has available personal palapas and beach chairs to ensure your time on the sand is comfortable. Not a day went by where the staff was not checking in on us to see if we needed anything.

In advance, the staff booked every excursion we desired. We took advantage of this and enjoyed the "jungle zip lines", "jet skis", "banana boat", and "ATV Jungle Tour". On all occasions, we were happy to see that the proximity of these tours was quite close to the property.

As far as accomodating our family lfestyle, we could not have been happier. The staff even volunteered to babysit our two children if we decided to venture out on an "adult only" evening. Funny thing is -- though we did not take advantage of their hospitality in this regard, we would have felt quite comfortable doing so.

All-in-all, if you are to visit Puerto Vallarta, and feel a hotel is not for you, Vallarta Shores International would be one of the finest choices you can make. On our last day, we chose to take them up on the offer to visit other properties they own and manage. The Villa living offers (Villa Azul and Villa Celeste) they maintain are absolutely the most beautiful properties we have ever seen. Let's just say, you can not go wrong contacting these guys the next time you are considering Vallarta. I'm sure you will feel the same -- give it a shot! Vallarta Shores es Muy Bien!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making our 17th anniversary so special. Dann & I and guests could not have had a better time any where else in the world. Jorge, Ruben, all the staff are special people and are happy to share it with others to make there stay special. Hope to be back time & again. Puerto Vallarta is our favorite place to vacation and staying at your villas & condos are the best. We have never been disappointed. Continue doing what you do as it is a success. Love to all!!!!

“Great location, great vacation!”

If you go to Vallarta, you've got to stay here. This place is the best! It's a great little building located at the south end of Los Muertos Beach. This is really the best way to experience Vallarta (as opposed to staying in some high-rise hotel (you might as well go to Vegas)), just depends what you're looking for I guess. The building is older and quite charming; this isn’t a code word for funky. Everything is super clean, housekeeping/maid service was excellent. In fact the entire staff, from the maids, to the manager, George, are very friendly and really provide a personal touch (again, contrast to a large hotel chain where there is no chance anyone will remember your name). My wife, two kids (9 and 5), and I spent the days playing on the beach, and splashing in the pool. We also had some fun adventures like swimming with the dolphins, water slides and zip-line in the jungle (not included, but the day trips were arranged by George). The beach is literally 20 steps from the front door of the hotel. The hotel is four stories and there is no elevator, but there are a couple of suites on the street level. On the top floor, they have some killer 3 bedroom “suites” (really like a mini-villa); each one has its own pool. If you have a large family or simply have the $ means, they also have large Villas (various locations throughout PV) for rent as well. We toured a couple while we were there; pretty amazing. The pictures on their site are legit and it really is as nice as it looks. You’ve got to check it out on their website. Here is a link: http://www.vallartashores.com/ or Google “Vallarta Shores”.

“Finally an authenitc Mexican Hotel”

I travel quite a bit and one thing I have found in my travels is the need for authenticity. I overheard a conversion about the Vallarta Shores Hotel from some strangers while waiting at the airport. I struck up a conversation with them and they told me how much they enjoyed staying at the hotel. I was on my way home to the States and I frequent Mexico quite often, so when I arrived home I checked out their website. I was struck by the use of old brick and the colorful Mexican furnishings and artwork. And the beachfront location seemed lovely

Needless to say I made reservation and finally stayed there in mid March. I was not disappointed. It was even nicer than I imagined. The rooms were clean, the furnishing were lovely and the staff was most friendly. While it doesn't have all the conveniences of a high rise, homogenous hotel, that is its charm. It is unique and very authentic, like being in a friendly home.

If you like the large hotel chains which look the same all over the world except for different bedspreads and reproduction prints hanging on the wall you probably shouldn't stay here. If you are looking for a memorable, very pleasant stay at the quiet end of town yet close in, without all the bells and whistles, you will love this place. This is what Mexico shold feel like. All the rooms are comfy, but if can afford one of the penthouses, which are extremely reasonably priced for their size and amenities, book one of them. Wherever you stay you won't go wrong.

Would I stay there again? ABSOUTLEY

“More Positives Than Negatives”

Vallarta Shores International Hotel

Our family of four (kids 8 and 5) stayed in Unit 4 (one-bedroom condo) for a week. Positives:
* Great beach access. The units overlook Los Muertos beach. One must only cross a narrow parking lot to access the beach.
* Great beach/water views. Each unit above the ground floor has a large private balcony fronting the beach.
* Good location at the end of the Romantic Zone. Access to the great restaurants and shops of the RZ is very easy (5-10 minute walk), yet VS is at the end of a dead-end street and has no through traffic noise and much less foot traffic and beach congestion than spots further toward downtown.
* Unit 4 is fairly spacious and tastefully decorated. Our kids were comfortable in the large pull-out sofa sleeper and we had plenty of room for eating, etc.
* Large, nice beach towels are provided by the front desk.
* VS palapas were available for use every day we went to the beach

Negatives:
* Service was uneven. Our in-room safe was locked and we asked for a code or key. We asked two different days and were told they would take care of it but it never happened. We told them upon arrival that we were missing one of the two balcony chairs but this was never fixed. Despite having 4 guests, we consistently were given 3 towels and 2 wash clothes by the maid. For the first several days we went to the front desk and asked them to send up more but eventually gave up and rationed. On the other hand, they quickly replaced our TV with one that had the necessary input plugs for our portable DVD player and were very helpful in calling taxis and providing advice on day trips.
* Guests should be aware that this end of the beach is the epicenter of gay Puerto Vallarta. The most popular gay destination, Blue Chairs, is perhaps 50 yards up the beach. We didn't see much PDA but plenty of skimpy suits and the area had a bit of a meat market feel. Some might prefer a different vibe when visiting with young children.
