Spent 19th to 26th April. It's rated a 2-star, so don't expect 4* luxury. Rooms are large and comfortable, yet dated. Our room was a studio kitchenette. Bring your own hairdryer. Bathtub needed repair but shower and water worked fine. We liked the in-room safe. Room provided 2 bottles of water daily. We got extra water at the large super market about a 10 minute walk toward Pto Vallarta. We had a deck facing the Cantos del Sol across the street, very quiet at night. We had access to everything at The Cantos. It is situated right on the beach. The pool at the Villas was very quiet most days, and Luis the bartender was great. There were two days where over 200 teen agers were booked in, and the hotel was very noisy. The pool and activities at the Cantos are fun, with a good variety of things to do. Lots of lounge chairs at the pools. The activities staff are very friendly and helpful. We talked to a number of younger people who had a blast. The buffet was excellent, with good selection. Mexican cooking is featured most meals, and well prepared. Breakfast offered eggs made to order. Lunch and snack bar also good. We had two ala carte dinners. Italian was fine, steak was tough. Beach was rocky but good to watch sunset. Entertainment at night was fun. You can always get a drink at the bar, but they don't make martinis. Dollar for dollar this is good vacation in a convenient location. Taxi's are only 60 pesos to town and most other places. Bull fights are Wednesday and tickets are 350 pesos at the door.
