I recently returned from a 12 day stay in Puerto Vallarta (PV) and at the Villa David Bed and Breakfast property. This was my first visit to PV and I must say that this port side town has now become a planned destination for me for the future. Villa David is located in an "Old World" Mexican neighborhood which is absolutely safe, accessible and surrounded by other residential properties; including, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor's former homes less than a stone's throw from the property. I found myself simply walking the cobblestoned streets on many occasions just to get a feel for the adjoining neighborhoods, the lifestyles of the people of PV and the sheer enjoyment of knowing that I am experiencing the fullness of the both the touist side and the actual inhabitant's side of the PV life. During my entire stay, there was never a time when I felt less than safe in this neighborhood or anywhere else in PV that I visited and I walked daily in the late evening and early morning hours to and from the Villa David location throughout my entire time in PV.
The Villa David location has approximately 10 rooms that are rented to visitors and I inspected quite a number of them during my stay in PV. Each was absolutely immaculate and the appointments were very tastefully implemented in each room. The service staff was unquestionably helpful and dedicated and made sure that my accomodations on each day were spotless, fresh and enjoyable. Breakfast is provided (Bed and Breakfast) each morning if one likes and with that a lively interplay between other guests is also included, if one so desires. I found this most enjoyable as one could share the former day's experiences and the present day's plans if so desired, as well as, receive recommendations for areas and/or restaurants to visit while in PV.
The overall take home message to anyone who is interested in visiting PV and staying at this Villa is to understand that you are in another country--Mexico; not, Las Vegas or some other sort of typical American city. With that obviously understood, and if you are truly interested in visiting a Mexican City that is full of old world charm, nice beaches, friendly people, great eating experiences, and a host of shopping venues (traditional and non-traditional) to explore; then, staying at Villa David while in PV is a very smart choice. The Villa is immaculate, large, yet private, and each room is complete with its own bathroom, cable, DVD player and there is a library of movies from which one can choose if so desired. The central courtyard is beautiful and is open to all guests to enjoy with a beautiful pool and sitting areas are stationed throughout the property from the ground floor to the rooftops! Yes, rooftops, as there are more than one to choose from. There is a jacuzzi rooftop, and another that sits high above the villa--both provide wonderful views to the bay that are wonderful to look at under the evening sky.
Bottom Line for me: I am already arranging my calendar to revist the PV area; but, I am also planning my visit to stay at Villa David once again.
Have a great time in PV and if you want a carefree Bed and Breakfast experience while you visit this town, you may wish to consider Villa David too, and let this property be your home away from home while you enjoy your time in this "Old World" city.
Recommendation: Highly and without any reservations!
