I think the people giving these stunning reviews have had too many margaritas. I'm not an overly picky traveler, but I definitely do my homework before I go. That said, I would not return here. We were never invited or told about any social gatherings during our stay. I had originally booked a studio, but the next day it was gone, so we got stuck with the hotel room. While not horrible, it was not what we were looking for.

This property is listed as adults only, which is extremely important to me. So imagine my surprise when we first walk down to the hot tub and there are two teens frolicking and splashing loudly in the pool! They had played with the spa so that it was an unbearable 120 degrees. So hot tub and pool were unusable. The spa on the roof was empty, and had been out of order for some time, as was the refrigerator.

The beds were typical Mexico, unbearably hard. You may think they're okay, but just try getting a good night's rest. What with the construction hammering, dogs barking, drunks coming in late, roosters crowing, sirens, and general traffic noise, I was exhausted by the end of the week, and I sleep like a rock normally.

I would not return to Puerto Vallarta for many reasons. While not awful, it wasn't the peaceful or culturally stimulating getaway I was looking for. And you will spend just as much money, if not more, than if you went to Hawaii.

Casa Isobel is a delightful accommodation on the side of the mountain with gorgeous views of Banderas Bay in Puerto Vallarta. It is an easy walk down to town though you may prefer a taxi back to the Casa. If you like to hike it is perfect for those wanting daily exercise. A lovely pool area overlooks the hillside and a perfect panorama of Puerto Vallarta.
It is a lovely spot for relaxation either long stay or short stay. Friday evenings is a gathering of visitors for a party which is a great way to meet new friends. The owners Dave and Isobel Manore usually are there to join the group.

I have stayed in more than a dozen Mexican cities over the years, both for business and pleasure, but I have to say that there is something about Puerto Vallarta and this particular property that feels special. Others have alluded to the comfortable touches that give you the impression of staying in someones private home..and that is all true.
My wife and I enjoyed the hilltop location. It is quite a hike...but taxis are only $3 up to the hotel. We never took cabs and, therefore, I think we may have come back in better shape than we left.
How many vacations can offer that?
The supermarket is just a few blocks away once you descend into town...it's a very short walk..and you can stock your kitchen for quick breakfasts on a terrific balcony....or maybe pickup some rotissiere chicken from one of the takeouts in town.
The best stretch of restaurants in the Romantic Zone are basically at your feet here...and the Malecon is not too far off.
You can mingle poolside as often as you like..or keep to yourself, if you choose..the property seems designed to offer the option.
I thought the Friday night welcome party on the owner's deck was both a very cordial gesture..and just , plain smart business. That little soiree kind of connects you to the place right off the bat.
From all that I can see, Casa Isabel appears to be well managed, carefully tended, spotless and well-gated. Your keys for night entry give you a feeling of greater security. We walked back many evenings after dinner and felt perfectly safe enroute.
I really can't fault the place. There's no doubt we'll be back...it was a great 'find' in one of our favorite cities.

My husband and I just returned from Puerto Vallarta, which we find to be the most perfect location in Mexico. We stayed at Casa Isabel and were truly delighted yet again another year. The service was wonderful, and Dave and Isabel and their staff could not be more gracious and funloving. As quickly as you make a request it is taken care of immediately. The rooms and grounds are spotless, and there is plenty of clean, bottled water in the rooms. Every Friday evening there was a get together to meet the other guests, and also a Saturday morning breakfast with complimentary massages.
And above all, the views from the casa are spectacular! You can see the ocean,the bay, and the jungle and town all from your room. It was less than a 10 minute walk to the beach.
We would recommend Casa Isabel for anyone considering a stay in Puerto Vallarta.
