We stayed in the "Honeymoon Suite" although it was not our honeymoon but our 15th anniversary. It was beautiful! The view spectacular and the staff more than accomadating. Isabel and Dave make you feel like your part of their family, we could not have been treated nicer. This is our 6th year going to Puerto Vallarta and love the people and the town. We feel that PV is one of the safest places to visit in Mexico! Casa Isabel's is THE place to stay while you are there!

My husband and I were guests in suite number 302 in the beautiful, well maintained Casa Isabel. Suite 302 is a very large, one bedroom, balcony apartment with bay and hillside views. We enjoyed socializing at the Friday evening party and Saturday morning breakfast hosted by the owners, Isabel and Dave. We watched TV with English language programming and used the in-room phone with free calling in PV and to Canada and the USA. The comfortable king size bed had six pillows. One set of floor-to-ceiling windows folded open to our spacious private balcony and another set from the bedroom to the living room. We loved the delicious drinks and lunches served by Christina Martillo at the pool side bar terrace with its sweeping view of the bay and the breeching whales. This was our first stay at the Casa Isabel but it is probably our 10th stay in Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romantica. We are very glad to have discovered Casa Isabel and we will be back there on future trips. We look forward to seeing the Zona Romantica fan out below our gaze. We treasure our walks down and up the steps and slopes because they keep us in great shape.

We have been travelling to PV for the past 22 years, and have stayed in various accommodations over these years. Casa Isabel rates as numero uno in our books! We stayed for two weeks which certainly was not enough. Three would be great and will try for that next year. The Friday night get together was fun and a nice way to meet the other guests. We made several friends (hi Gerry, Charlotte, and RIchard and Deb). The cooking facilities on the rooftop were great and the six of us took advantage one evening, and fireworks to boot. The staff are amazing, we made immediate friends with Tony, Martillo (Christine) and her boyfriend Steve, and later with Ceasar, Javier, Rahuel. Everyone provided great service!!! And you can't forget the little furry friends Madison, Freddie and Billy. Dave and Isabel were of course so wonderful to us (we feel like we owe you a night on the town). Thanks so much for taking us out, we enjoyed your company and all the great work you do for the children and the charities in PV. Just for everyone's information the Friday night meet the guest nights, Saturday morning brunches, and happy hours around the pool were so much fun. The food is wonderful and looking forward to next year when you have the full service restaurant. Semone your a wonderful chef!
Dave and Isabel are always letting you know what events are going on and if you want to join in you can. We took advantage of the Sunday afternoon Mongolian grill trip which was fabulous. It was held at the La Huerta Bar & Grill (we still are not sure if it's Petee's bar or Chewy's). Anyway it was great fun with the Mariachi band and the country atmosphere, and we highly reccomend it. The following Sunday was the drunken horseback ride, what a blast. Thanks to JR who organizes this event, and check out his website. Just google JR in PV and you should find it. Anyway didn't mean to write a book but if your looking for a beautiful place to stay with wonderful views of the city and Bay of Banderas (where you can watch the whales), beautilfully decorated rooms with great staff, service, and wonderful hosts, then this is the place to stay. Isabel, Dave thanks for a great vacation 2008.

The pictures do not do this beautiful place justice! I did a lot of research before selecting a place to stay while in Puerto Vallarta to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We made the right choice! From beginning to end everything was great! Kelly, in Canada was very helpful with our unusual booking. We were to arrive on a Sunday and our stay was for 10 nights. The typical reservation runs from Friday to Friday but many people stay much longer than one week – for good reason! In order to accommodate our unusual booking, Kelly split us up in to two rooms. Our first five nights were in a studio apartment (204) with the last five nights in one of the honeymoon suites (Crystal). We were pleased with both rooms but especially liked the honeymoon suite! What an incredible suite! Very romantic with the most fabulous views! We have stayed in a lot of nice hotels/condos with great views but none like this one! It is true you can hear traffic noise, especially from the lower apartments, however if you close the doors you can eliminate the noise. We did close the door while in 204 but kept the room open to the great outdoors while in the Crystal.

As others have mentioned Dave and Isabel are incredible hosts. They had their Friday party and guests could order dinner (on them!) and the same for breakfast the next morning. I have never experienced that anywhere I have stayed, other than with family. Dave even offered us breakfast the last morning before we were to depart for our journey home. We really appreciate their hospitality. We were invited to go on the “drunken horseback” tour with a group of about 30. We decided to decline as my husbands back was bothering him. He has a herniated disc and I think I ran him ragged while in Puerto Vallarta and yes, the beds are hard, which I believe is just the way it is in Mexico.

We met some very nice people while at the Casa and on the beach. We actually met people from our hometown while lounging on the beach. We were actually on the same flight home with a couple we met! Small world!

You can be comfortable staying at Casa Isabel soaking up sun by the pool while enjoying a beer or margarita or venture out to the nearby restaurants, beach and stores.

One other thing that I must mention which is a fairly new development at Casa Isabel is that they now have a Chef on staff. And he is very good! We had breakfast several mornings and his French toast is fantastic. We had lunch a couple days as well. The Burgers are huge and the shrimp tacos are really, really good! We could have eaten there more but there are so many great restaurants in town we wanted to try. Isabel told us within a few months they will also be serving dinner at the Casa. Oh, and you can also order your breakfast or lunch and have it delivered to your room! That is really great for those mornings when you are moving slow from too many margaritas the night before! (Thanks Christina!)

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Isabel and hope to return again in the near future! Thanks Dave & Isabel!

“Overrated”

Casa Isabel

I think the people giving these stunning reviews have had too many margaritas. I'm not an overly picky traveler, but I definitely do my homework before I go. That said, I would not return here. We were never invited or told about any social gatherings during our stay. I had originally booked a studio, but the next day it was gone, so we got stuck with the hotel room. While not horrible, it was not what we were looking for.

This property is listed as adults only, which is extremely important to me. So imagine my surprise when we first walk down to the hot tub and there are two teens frolicking and splashing loudly in the pool! They had played with the spa so that it was an unbearable 120 degrees. So hot tub and pool were unusable. The spa on the roof was empty, and had been out of order for some time, as was the refrigerator.

The beds were typical Mexico, unbearably hard. You may think they're okay, but just try getting a good night's rest. What with the construction hammering, dogs barking, drunks coming in late, roosters crowing, sirens, and general traffic noise, I was exhausted by the end of the week, and I sleep like a rock normally.

I would not return to Puerto Vallarta for many reasons. While not awful, it wasn't the peaceful or culturally stimulating getaway I was looking for. And you will spend just as much money, if not more, than if you went to Hawaii.

Sorry you didn't enjoy Puerto Vallarta and your stay at Casa Isabel.

However! I must point out that you were never "bumped" or "downgraded" in any way from the room you had originally booked, tho you had "requested" a studio, none were available and the hotel room was the only room open for the dates you wanted. You confirmed this Dec. 3rd, paid a deposit on same room with a request for an upgrade should one become available. You paid the final payment on this same room 30 days prior to your arrival. Again with a request for consideration for an upgrade if anything came open, so you were very aware of the room you had booked. Unfortunately nothing else opened up. The hotel room photo and info. on our website is very clear, this is our smallest room and is priced accordingly. Had to clarify this as your review "reads" as if your room was given away in one day which was never the case.

The teenagers were 18 and 19 and with their families who are friends of ours. We seldom get young adults stay at CI as our age group,
is usually mid 30s to mid 60s and we offer little to interest them.

PV is a vibrant exciting city with all the noises that go along with that. Many guests find CI a peaceful retreat but we are situated up the hill and on the edge of town so some noises do drift up. Even out of town "quieter" places will still have the roosters crowing, donkeys braying, dogs barking. These are the sounds of Mexico, at least on our coast.

If you like Hawaii ! I think the Cancun resort areas would be quieter and much more to your taste.

Our social gatherings are posted at the pool, outside the office, at the pool bar. But lots of impromptu happenings with guests deciding to take a tour, have cocktails on the river, etc. etc. I'm very sorry if you felt you weren't invited, this was definitely not our intention as we love gettogethers.

Again! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.
