“Spectacular View, Beautiful Rooms, Awesome Hosts & STAFF!”

Casa Isabel

My wife and I had a fantastic time in Puerto Vallarta this last January. I wished we could have stayed longer!
The view from Casa Isabel was fabulous, and they really know how to make you feel at home.
We ended up staying in several different rooms.
(This was my fault - when I bought the airline tickets, I didn't know they normally do Friday to Friday stays. So, when I later booked the place to say, I took the "Hotel" room, since that was available for the entire time.)
But, the good part of that was we got to see lots of different rooms of the place, and I would go back anytime!
We stayed in the "Hotel" room one night. Nice room, and a view... but as I was to find out - it actually has the worst view in the place! Amazing, since it really had a nice view.
But it was partially blocked by the roof of the place in front of Casa Isabel.
Then, when another guest asked us up to their room for drinks, I discovered that they had an even better view - so I asked Tony (who was EXTREMELY HELPFUL, by the way) if they could move us to another room - for which I would be happy to pay the difference.
Tony managed to find a room that we could move into for a few days, but - due to them not having a way to charge my credit card, I would have to pay cash.
I really didn't bring enough cash with us for that, so Tony ended up asking Dave & Isabel (the owners) about it, and they let me upgrade for free! What wonderful people!
We stayed in room 302 with a separate bedroom that was slightly elevated above the main room so that you had a really nice view even from the bed. My wife liked sleeping in, and having a view of the morning sun hitting the village.
It also had a full kitchen (all of the rooms do, except the"Hotel" room.) I really enjoyed that.
I would walk to the local market, and made a lot of our food in our room. We ate most of our meals on the patio, with a stunning view over the town. We could even (just barely) hear the live entertainment from a restaurant up the road when we were eating dinner on the patio!
I was disappointed when we were going to have to move back to the "Hotel" room, only to find out that Tony managed to find us another room to move to - that had maybe even a BETTER view!
We spent the last two days in the room kind of "under" the pool & patio deck. (No noise from poolside parties ever reached us.)
That room was called a "studio", and had a smaller (but fully equipped) kitchen. It had more of a view toward the bay, and almost every morning we saw whales just off shore.
Like I said before: We will be back!!!
The only thing my wife didn't like was the walk up the quite steep little hill to the hotel. I didn't mind at all, and did it many times.
I would usually take a morning walk down to the beach, and walk down the concrete walk next to the beach. It goes for maybe 2 miles, and has some statues and art along the way. Very nice.
I just need more vacation time...

My husband and I booked this hotel because we wanted a more authentic feel for Puerto Vallarta (versus the mega beach hotels), and we were not disappointed. We have young kids and don't get away too often, so we wanted a vacation that included a combination of things: experience a new city and culture, enjoy the sun and relaxation, meet some interesting people, and explore the area for a little adventure and physical challenge. We found Casa Isabel to be the perfect place and location to do all this, and we had a blast.

As many have said, Casa Isabel is a beautiful place with stunning views of the city and bay. Our honeymoon suite was one of the most unique and charming rooms we have ever experienced. We loved walking down (wear good shoes!) to the beach or to town for dinner, with a $3 cab ride back always an easy option. And we always looked forward to coming "home" to relax in the pool with a great margarita made by Christine "Martillo" -- our very helpful bartender who was fun to be around.

But what really impressed us was the way owners Dave and Isabel treated their guests. In a world where everyone is trying to get as much as they can from you, they actually look for ways to give you more. For example, the free drinks and dinner Friday night, the complimentary brunch on Saturday, and the mountain/beach hike on Sunday. They had the hike planned for 30 people or so, which included free transportation, water taxis, a beachside lunch and beer, of course! A great day experiencing something we never would have without Dave and Isabel's generosity and desire to show people a good time. (And we really loved the couples we met!)

The staff was great, Tony the manager was always ready to help us, everything was very clean and the flowers and gardens were gorgeous. You can be as private as you want, or participate in social activities if you want -- your choice, but we always felt welcome.

Casa Isabel was above and beyond our expectations, and I feel proud of myself for having found it! We'd love to go back.

We had the privilege of being Isabel and Dave's guest in December 2007.
Casa Isabel is such a beautiful, wonderful place that words cannot adequately describe it !!! The rooms were magnificent, the care taken to address ever detail of comfort is very evident, you could not possible find anything better. From the warm greeting you receive upon arriving to the friendship, warmth and kindness of the owners (Isabel and Dave) it was indeed a magical experience. Their staff do an awesome job of catering to your every need.
We will be returning to Mexico later this year
and we will definitely stay at Casa Isabel.
For those of you planning a trip to P.V. who have never experienced Casa Isabel it's a MUST do. It will be a experience you will never forget.
Isabel and Dave thank you once again for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.

“Come For the View; Come Back for the Great Staff!”

Casa Isabel

Come for the exquisite view over Puerto Vallarta, the clean, light and open rooms, and stay because the staff makes you feel so well-cared for and right at home! I stayed there again this year because Robert was so kind and friendly last year, and as a woman traveling on my own in a new city, helped me feel I had a friend and resource I could trust. The second trip I stayed on my own part of the time, and was equally well looked after by Tony, who's courtesy, knowledge and helpfulness made storing luggage and getting transportation for side trips out of town smooth and easy. Not to mention Christine the bartender, who besides being quick, and accomodating with off-menu items, is a blast to talk with. It's not everyday that the owner of an elegant boutique hotel graciously and personally helps guests with a laundry problem, but Isabel offered without skipping a beat. And if you like, Dave often offers to put a beer in your hand and a story in your ear. Cesar, and all the rest of the staff were always friendly and helpful without being intrusive. It's a great place to enjoy the pleasure of the sun sparkling off the Bay of Banderas, and rest after exploring the city!

Have a great trip!

Ellen

P.S. A note about the rooms and noise level preferences: if you take a lower room (the "hotel room" and "studios") you will hear the road below...it's a busy one! So take an upper room if you want a quieter stay.
