My wife and I had a fantastic time in Puerto Vallarta this last January. I wished we could have stayed longer!
The view from Casa Isabel was fabulous, and they really know how to make you feel at home.
We ended up staying in several different rooms.
(This was my fault - when I bought the airline tickets, I didn't know they normally do Friday to Friday stays. So, when I later booked the place to say, I took the "Hotel" room, since that was available for the entire time.)
But, the good part of that was we got to see lots of different rooms of the place, and I would go back anytime!
We stayed in the "Hotel" room one night. Nice room, and a view... but as I was to find out - it actually has the worst view in the place! Amazing, since it really had a nice view.
But it was partially blocked by the roof of the place in front of Casa Isabel.
Then, when another guest asked us up to their room for drinks, I discovered that they had an even better view - so I asked Tony (who was EXTREMELY HELPFUL, by the way) if they could move us to another room - for which I would be happy to pay the difference.
Tony managed to find a room that we could move into for a few days, but - due to them not having a way to charge my credit card, I would have to pay cash.
I really didn't bring enough cash with us for that, so Tony ended up asking Dave & Isabel (the owners) about it, and they let me upgrade for free! What wonderful people!
We stayed in room 302 with a separate bedroom that was slightly elevated above the main room so that you had a really nice view even from the bed. My wife liked sleeping in, and having a view of the morning sun hitting the village.
It also had a full kitchen (all of the rooms do, except the"Hotel" room.) I really enjoyed that.
I would walk to the local market, and made a lot of our food in our room. We ate most of our meals on the patio, with a stunning view over the town. We could even (just barely) hear the live entertainment from a restaurant up the road when we were eating dinner on the patio!
I was disappointed when we were going to have to move back to the "Hotel" room, only to find out that Tony managed to find us another room to move to - that had maybe even a BETTER view!
We spent the last two days in the room kind of "under" the pool & patio deck. (No noise from poolside parties ever reached us.)
That room was called a "studio", and had a smaller (but fully equipped) kitchen. It had more of a view toward the bay, and almost every morning we saw whales just off shore.
Like I said before: We will be back!!!
The only thing my wife didn't like was the walk up the quite steep little hill to the hotel. I didn't mind at all, and did it many times.
I would usually take a morning walk down to the beach, and walk down the concrete walk next to the beach. It goes for maybe 2 miles, and has some statues and art along the way. Very nice.
I just need more vacation time...
