“A Perfect Wedding At Cinco Sentidos”

Hotel Cinco Sentidos

5 of 5 stars
Los Angeles
Apr 28, 2008

My husband and I fell in love with Zihuatanejo last year and decided to have our wedding there. We found Hotel Cinco Sentidos in an article in Brides Magazine and flew to Zihua for the weekend to check out the hotel. Araceli, the owner, treated us like royalty, planning various meetings, tastings, etc., to help us prepare for the wedding. She went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us.

The hotel is absolutely perfect, with each room having it's own beauty and charm. We visited all the hotels on La Ropa Beach (for our wedding guests), and Cinco Sentidos is the very best for the price range. The rooms rival many of the rooms at the pricier hotels in Zihua (The Tides, Amuleto, Casa Que Canta, etc). Also, the views are spectacular. Some of the most beautiful views on La Ropa Beach.

As for the wedding, Araceli and I emailed and spoke on the phone for 5 months in preparation for the wedding. She contacted each and every one of the vendors, making my job so effortless. She has impeccable taste and followed through with every detail as if it was her own wedding. Initially we were going to have the wedding catered, but chose to have Heiko, who is a very talented and professionally trained chef, cook for for our entire reception. He worked around the clock the days leading up to the wedding. Needless to say, we feasted on fresh grilled lobster, shrimp, steak, fish, mango, salad, potatoes, etc. He did an excellent job and hired a most professional staff to assist him. Our guests are still raving about the food!!! The best wedding food we've ever had!!! Araceli even went out of her way and drove over 1 hour to pick up a large red snapper that was cooked in a neighboring village, "using special charcoal." She also ordered our cake, ensuring it was nearly identical to the photo I provided. In addition to cooking a great meal, Heiko worked tirelessly to prepare the hotel for the wedding. He did an excellent job and provided us with much assistance. Also, the staff was friendly and beyond hardworking. Both Rodrigo and Judy worked day and night, keeping the hotel perfectly clean and well kept.

Throughout the wedding week, we stayed in the grand suite, which is comparable to any of the luxury hotels in the area that charge over $500 per night. The room has a spectacular view and is one of the most romantic hotel rooms I've seen. There is a large infinity pool overlooking the bay, with a hammock and a large master bathroom. The bed is so very comfortable, and it was a pleasure to wake up to the gorgeous views of Zihuatanejo Bay.

Overall, we can't say enough great things about Hotel Cinco Sentidos. It is a charming and personable place to stay. It is an excellent value for such romantic and comfortable accomodations. The grounds are impeccably kept with much charm throughout. Do yourself a favor and indulge in a visit to Hotel Cinco Sentidos.

“The best place to stay on La Ropa”

Hotel Cinco Sentidos

Mar 31, 2008

The web site attracted me, a week there convinced me that I have found the best place on Playa La Ropa.
Heiko and his staff attend to any request.
The hotel itself is a beautiful place, very tastefully decorated, beautiful flowers everywhere!
I will be staying there again!

“Relaxed in Paradise”

We visited Cinco Sentidos late Jan to early Feb this year and found everything to be first rate. We stayed in room 2 . Saw room 4 and it was larger. The Grand suite on top is truly delightful, large and private. Not to say the #2 wasn't private but that upper room will be our choice next time. The sunsets at the pool are as good as it gets in Zihua. Being only a 5 minute walk from La Ropa, it's easy to have your feet in the sand with little effort. Coming back up the hill from the beach is not that bad, but it is steep. Hieko is truly one of a kind. He shared his local knowledge, provided us with endless laughter and best of all, provided to all the needs of the quests. Being my first time to Zihua, I found this location fine for all activities. A cab to town only 3 bucks and there are everywhere...Comfortable room with nice bed, small frig, decent balcony and never ending sun. We will be back. Thank you Areceli and Hieko...Bill and Robbi

My husband and I stayed at Cinco Sentidos for 6 days, and we loved it. It was so nice to be in a place we didn't want to leave: the room was beautiful, and the terrace, with its small infinity pool, made it that much more appealing.
It's true that the hotel is situated at the top of a very steep hill; if you don't do much walking regularly or are in bad physical shape, this might not be the hotel for you. But if you are hardy, you'll be rewarded with a great view from your room (not to mention stronger legs).
Heiko made us feel at home right away; he was so helpful and lively. We would go back to Cinco Sentidos in a heartbeat.

“Great Beginning to a Great Trip”

Hotel Cinco Sentidos

My husband and I had been reluctant to stay too far from the beach when we first went to Zihuatanejo for our 2007 wedding, so instead we stayed Residencias Vill del Sol. Having gotten the lay of the land last year, I didn't even think twice or hesitate to book at Cinco Sentidos, which I had considered last year.

This is a really nice, quiet, boutique hotel for regular middle class travelers. I booked a bit late in November, so was only able to get room 1, which has two double beds. It's still a great room with an excellent view. And the beds are quite comfortable. Usually beds in Mexico are a bit too firm, but these have nice pillow tops.

Heiko met all expectations generated from reading Trip Advisor reviews of the hotel. He's all that, and quite amusing too. He really will call you a cab or get a dinner reservation for you. When it was time for us to move up to Troncones for the second half of our trip, he called a friend of his (who has an air conditioned car) to drive us there.

The walk up the hill is challenging but after a couple of days we didn't need to rest part way up or even before heading to our room. I will say that if you're not in good physical condition, this would not be a good choice for a hotel, unless you want to cab down to the beach and back.

Of course, having a punge pool just outside the room door is one of the best features I've ever had in a vacation hotel room. It is so nice to be able to cool off after a long day at the beach and the walk up the hill and then have a bit of a nap before dinner.

The bathroom had two features that I found especially notable. First, the toilet was in its own room. This is vital when you're sharing a small space, even with your husband or wife. Second, there was a sizable shower with a view of the bay (room 1 looks to the south end of La Ropa and Las Gatas). The floor of the shower was smooth stones, which feel great under foot.

We had plenty of clothing storage and a programable safe. The room had a small refrigerator, a coffee maker, two sets of dishes and flatware, coffee cups, glasses, and tequilla shooters.

I strongly recommend this hotel to the discerning traveler who is not interested in a big all inclusive with crowds of loud people. This hotel is quiet and each room has plenty of privacy. The only thing I regret is not staying here during our 2007 wedding/honeymoon trip!

Thanks Heiko!
