“Wonderful experience”

Casa Colonial

5 of 5 stars
Chicago, Illinois

My wife and I stayed at the Casa Colonial for four days during a friend's recent wedding, and it felt like a second honeymoon for us! Based on previous customer reviews, we chose Suite #1. We were not disappointed! The room was very spacious and nicely decorated, with a nice view of the inner courtyard. We loved the small garden in the bathroom. The hotel does not have air conditioning, but we never felt it was needed. The fan and an open window worked just great.
The hotel is in the center of Cuernavaca, and walking distance from the Casa Hidalgo (which we highly recommend) and other nice restaurants. Although across from the bus station, we never heard the buses or traffic. The only noises we heard were the birds outside our window. With the same attentive staff working all the days we were there, we felt like extended family by the time we checked out. If we make it back to Cuernavaca again, I would gladly stay at the Casa Colonial again.

“Fantastic family gathering/celebration”

Casa Colonial

Jun 1, 2008

Our family took over all the rooms at Casa Colonial for 3-4 days in conjunction with daughter's wedding, and we enjoyed it very much. Staff was gracious and helpful, rooms elegant and comfortable, food (especially breakfast) good quality and tasty... time to prep for the wedding interspersed with lounging around the pool, kids swimming, etc. Coudn't have asked for better... and hope to return in the future to visit with new in-laws!

“Not too good”

Casa Colonial

May 29, 2008

Casa Colonial was not too good as as expected. The attention from the staff is poor, the room was fool of garbage under the room. The only thing we like was the food and the distance from the center. Not an hotel to recommend.

“What a find!”

Casa Colonial

My family of 3 arrived in Cuernavaca by car without hotel reservations. Too bad it was a Saturday night! We walked into the Hotel Casa Colonial to ask about room availability. There was nothing .... but the wonderful woman at the front desk called 6+ places for us before finding us 1 room at a nearby hotel. The next day we were back and stayed at the Casa Colonial for the 5 days remaining of our Cuernavaca stay. Ask for a quiet room and you'll get exactly that. Room 4 is perfect, while rooms 5, 14, and 15 rank right up there, too.
Breakfast is excellent and a great value. A light dinner by the pool in the garden courtyard is peaceful and reasonable. Most sights are within a short walking distance. Rooms are tastefully furnished in classic Mexican; rooms are immaculate; WiFi is free;--- and actually works --- staff is great .... we look forward to returning.

“Beautiful colonial hotel”

Casa Colonial

This is a wonderful colonial hotel in excellent shape with beautiful rooms and a very helpful staff. It is conveniently located in central Cuernavaca practically across from the Robert Brady museum, which is definitely worth a 1-hour visit to see how this wealthy expatriate art collector lived and decorated his home in a former convent. The hotel is gorgeous with outdoor dining, reasonably priced delicious breakfasts (I recommend Desayuna Poblano) and a wonderful restaurant whose cuisine beats Las Manianitas hands down in my opinion (the experience at Las Manianitas is still worth it though). Our room #14 was fantastic with french doors opening onto a patio overlooking the pool. The patio has a couch and chairs in front of a working fireplace. This was wonderful on one cool evening. Also the bathroom has a sauna, which our boys loved to use and jump in the pool. They had a room back behind the outdoor bar area which was great for them - king sized bed and a futon in a small side room. The experience was unsurpassed. You should really stay at this place!
