“Extremely Good Value”

The hotel is centrally located close to the intersection of Reforma and Insurgentes. The rooms were comfortable, and clean and an excellent breakfast buffet is served. It is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Metro, and about a 20 minute walk to the Bellas Artes, and another ten to the Zocolo.

The service desk is very helpful and always willing to give directions and information

I highly reccommend this hotel and have told many friends about it.

“Good basic hotel for non-Spanish speakers”

Stayed in Aug 05. Room basic but comfortable. Airconditioning a bit noisy. Hotel safe in the room. No bar fridge but ice machine on each floor and fresh bottled water each day. Restaurant attached very good and relatively cheap (for a hotel restaurant). There was always at least one English speaking staff member at desk and in restaurant, so knowing no spanish was not a problem. The hotel is 45 minutes stroll from the historic centre/zoccolo.

“European Style”

We stayed here 4 nights over the MLK Jr. holiday weekend 2005. This place is just like a 3 star hotel in Europe at half the price with a great breakfast buffet included. Not continental with a muffin and some juice but eggs, bacon. toast. cereal, the whole nine yards. Even some lunch entrees. Served 7AM to 10AM. Although our room was in front by the street the hotels location is a few steps off the main street so it is quieter. The staff was very nice, spoke english and went out of their way to be helpful. Tours can be arranged at the front desk and they are waiting for you right out the front door. Taxi to the airport was $15 USD. The Metro is a 10 minute walk and will get you to Plaza Bellas Artes, the Zocalo, the Basicilla and more for 30 cents. We even took a bus to the bullfights about 5 miles up the main avenue. 40 cents each way. If you are not adventurous enough to take public transportation safe taxi's are always at the front door but not for 40 cents. We did travel during the day though except the return from the bullfight. We always look for deals this hotel was a sweet one. If you are looking for pools and spas though break out your credit card and search for Hayatt.

“Nice Stay”

We were supposed to stay in the Holiday Inn Zocalo, but however there was a major strike going on that day and we were unable to enter the Zocalo. Our cab driver recommended Hotel Regente and we were very pleased that he did. It is a nice hotel, a little older, but very nice and very clean. The staff was incredible! We asked to move rooms because they were painting next to ours and we were able to move right away to a different floor. They even put us in a bigger room. Then, we asked for more towels, and they were actually brought right away. We are a type of family that really appreciates this, especially when all of the other hotels in Mexico that we have stayed at refuse to bring our things at any reasonable time or even at all. The receptionists were great, bellboys were so helpful and nice. The restaurant was delicious. We ate there for lunch and we had their buffet breakfast. It is kind of a long walk from here to the Zocalo, but if you are in good shape, and a good sport, the walk will be a fun time since you pass many important monuments on the way. It is also very close to the Zona Rosa, another popular place in Mexico City. The rooms were very appropriately priced. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
