The Vista Plaza del Sol is convenient to the Plaza del Sol a modern shopping center, and a 10-minute walk to the EXPO where the FIL (International Book Fair) is held. Those are the best parts of the hotel.
The staff, except for the front desk, is quick and attentive. The front desk could use a few more staff members when there are quite a few guests waiting. They were also out of change on a Saturday afternoon. The staff performed well, but the management should have more adequate plans and resources for conventions such as these.
The restaurant was good, the food was fine, and room service – even pizza- was quick and tasty. I thought the beds were delightful. My room (1120) had a shower not a tub, which would have been nice for a soak after a long day of walking. I am told they are all showers.
The two drawbacks I noted were the shower of sparks and the blowing of a light bulb when I turned on the lamp over the table. Entertaining, although I would have preferred fireworks outside. The second problem is the noise. My room was just above the “Entre Amigos” bar where there is a singer until midnight most nights that can be heard quite clearly through the floor. I solved the problem by going for drinks each night until he was done, but others may not consider this a viable solution. A second noise complaint was the banging and hammering going on outside my window during my afternoon naps. I thought someone was inside the first time it started.
So close to the EXPO, good food, comfortable rooms but quite loud. There are cheaper alternatives as comfortable if not more so in the Center. I will stay here again if someone else is paying, and I may give it a second chance if I have to be near the EXPO very early in the morning, but otherwise I am going downtown.

It just isn't nice enough or cheap enough. The bathrooms were unpleasant and the food at the buffet was not something I was willing to try. My Spanish is limited and they were not always able to assist me. There has got to be a better choice. (Yes, the review says I am now from Guadalajara. I stayed at this hotel for my first week here.)

I have two negative points to highlight: 1.- The beds are terrible !!.. the matress is more like a hammok.
2.- if you're unlucky enough to be there on a Friday or Saturday, be prepared for a long night of VERY loud music coming from a bar/disco across the street. You will NOT sleep !!

The positive: The staff is great!

Have stayed here several times while attending the (annual) International Book Fair (FIL). Conveniently located ($3 US taxi fare to the Expo) and across driveway from Plaza del Sol Shopping Center. Hotel is quite modern, service is excellent, good restaurant, but it is just a multi-storied place to sleep - no character. Except on Saturday night when a nearby Disco goes at top volume till near 4 AM. Stay there only for convenience - it's a long way from the Historic Center.
