Gran Melia Reforma, was a great choice for me and my boyfriend's getaway to Mexico City. For the rate I got, I was more than satisfied with what i received.
The hotel first off, is within walking distance to the 'centro historico' (historic center), which includes el Zocalo, Torre Latinoamerica, the beautiful cathedrals, and el Palacio Monumental. It's also nearby a quaint park, Bellas Artes, and the revolution monument along with the Hidalgo metro station in case you'd like to venture off to the surrounding sites.
If you're a really good walker, from the hotel, it's also feasable to walk to the Angel of Independence by crossing through 'Zona Rosa.'
Aesthetically, the hotel has an attractive lobby, two cute restaurants (the food is so-so), a very cool glass elevator, and comfortable standard rooms which include a spacious marble bathroom with tub shower. But by far, my favorite part of the hotel was its pool which is located in their spa. You should not miss it.
As for service, the hotel's concierge and bell boys were very amiable and helpful, and I always felt safe on the hotel premises. On the otherhand, the staff at reception could work on being less snobby.
Overall, I would truly recommend this hotel to anyone, even though it does seem to be targeted towards business people. This hotel is a great introduction to wonderful Mexico City.
