We just returned from 9 nights at the Gran Melia Reforma in MX City. What a great hotel to stay at. The service is supreme. They were so very helpful with 1/2 of our group of 10 being non-Spanish speaking. The conceirge was so helpful, kind and courteous to us at all times. We used the Turi-bus part of the time which is only 2 blocks away, and we were in walking distance of the Belle ARtes Theatre and Alameda Park. We love walking so we also walked to and from the Zocalo area a couple of times, (which is about 3/4 of a mile from this hotel). We ate most breakfast's at the Sanborn's, 1/2 block from the Gran Melia. The best sites we visited were the Teotihuacan pyrmids, we took a tour to Taxco and Cuarnvaca (sp). A big tip to leave you with is that if you have a group, it's much better to have your travel agent arrange a driver and van for just your group, which cost us about $300 total, (or $30 each for 10) for a 10-12 hour day. By doing that you have more flexibility about when, where, and how long to stop and spend your time at each stop. Our tour to Taxco was on their schedule and their stops, such as the jewelers where it was obvious they were getting a commission from........and not near enough time for when we wanted to do. All in all we had a great trip to such a beautiful city!
