Overall the hotel was pleasant. The room (1419) was nice and quiet. Room service and front desk personnel were very helpful. But BEWARE of the concierge and and doormen! They will insist on putting you in a more expensive hotel taxi even if you ask them nicely to call a regular taxi for you, which is MUCH cheaper. I got so tired of haggling with them over this that I decided to buy a phone card ($10) and call the taxis myself from the lobby. This of course did not please the doormen, who no longer bothered to assist my 65 year-old mother, who has had knee surgery and uses a cane, by opening the car AND hotel doors! I would recommend this hotel if you get a good rate, as I did, but avoid the concierge and doormen as much as possible. They are only there to try and take as much of your money as they can.

“I've had better”

Gran Melia Mexico Reforma

Apr 8, 2008

This hotel should be a lot nicer for what you're actually paying. Not a five star at all, it looks kind of shabby and a bit dirty if you ask me. My bathroom was lacking some maintainance and I bet you cannot say you're happy when you pay for your car to be parked at the hotel you're staying in. Kind of annoying to find not very helpful people at front desk. Super expensive for what you get, would have liked to pay much more if i'd had known it will be such a waste. Anyway, it has a great location and that made things easier. Wish i had heard about all costs before calling in though.

“Just as I remembered, which means a need for refurbishment”

The Gran Melia Mexico Reforma is well-located in Mexico City for Zona Rosa and Centro Historico visits, Polanco is a little further away. I travel to Mexico often and have fond memories of the Gran Melia - but now it is time for the hotel to refurbish the rooms. As a previous reviewer noted, the rooms have not changed in many years.

The grand bathrooms with the nice Jacuzzi has old fixtures that are loose, the wallpaper needs a rework. But these are quibbles.

The Melia is a wonderful hotel overall, with a fantastic staff, and handles the international traveler very well. As often as I visit Mexico, I still only know very little Spanish, but that is not a problem whatsoever in the Melia.

It's fun, and travelers should try the hotel.

“Great Hotel”

Gran Melia Mexico Reforma

4 of 5 stars

Gran Melia Reforma Mexico City

Stayed at this hotel in Mexico City with a travel group from Ireland for three nights in February. The decor was great and rooms clean, comfortable and of a very high standard. We were booked as a group on a Breakfast and evening meal basis - spoiled for choice at breakfast but dinner could have been better. We decided to eat in the restaurant on our last night 'a la carte' and all of the group could not speak highly enough of the food, service, etc. I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends for its ambience, courteous staff , comfortable rooms and great leisure centre.
