We were unsure as to what we would find when we arrived at this hotel in Mexico City but decided to go with this hotel because of a low daily rate (under $60.00 US dollars a night). Well, what we found was a 4-maybe 5 star hotel. When my wife walked in the room, her first words were “oh, wow, this is nice!”. As the husband who had chosen this place, I felt a huge relief that she liked it. Sometimes being thrifty has backfired on me. The Room: The rooms are very modern. They have marble, natural oak with stainless steel accents, and a vaulted ceiling, along with a balcony that looks out to the city and its mountains. There is indirect lighting embedded in the walls and in the vaulted ceiling that gives the room a very upscale look at night. The safe in the room can use a PIN number or a credit card swipe for those like me who forget codes all of the time. The Hotel: It is within walking distance to downtown, the trendy zona rosa (Mexican Beverly Hills) and across a boulevard where artists sell their creations on weekends. This hotel is very quiet and private. You seldom have to share your elevator with others, there are no crowds of people in the lobby making a commotion, and if you drive, the valet parking is indoors, free, and no one is allowed in the parking garage but the security staff. This in itself is huge. We were paying 60 pesos for public parking a day at another hotel in Acapulco. The rooms are built around the building’s perimeter, so the lobby’s ceiling extends all the way to the roof of the building. As you look up, it looks like you are looking into an Aztec pyramid with all of its different levels. They also have free Internet and a business center that everyone can use with new computers, fax machines, copiers, and LAN printers. My kids enjoyed the use of the computers while we watched TV upstairs in the room. Most other places charge you to use their computers by the hour. The Staff: Very professional and helpful. They always had a place to suggest when we asked about the best places to eat and have fun at a low cost. My Experience: We stayed in different parts in mexico during our two weeks’ vacation, and this was by far the best place we stayed at. The $160.00 a night hotel we stayed in Acapulco is a one star place compared to this hotel. I also travel frequently for my employer and I can safely say that this hotel is among one of the best I have stayed at. Hotels in Mexico are not what we are used to in the US, so finding this hotel with this quality of service and services in Mexico was like finding a treasure.
