“Great Place to Relax!”

Bahia de la Luna

Excellent place to get away from it all! Reto and staff were very friendly and accommodating. My wife and I are both vegetarians, and Reto had no issues cooking us fantastic vegetarian meals. He also made excellent mixed drinks. The pico-de-gallo & guacamole were also excellent - made to order so they were very fresh.

The cabana was quite simple and rustic - perfect as all we needed was a place to sleep and clean-up. Our cabana (Neptuno) was right next to the beach. There were plenty of hammocks and Adirondack chairs to enjoy the ocean & the rest of the hotel property. We took out the sea kayaks but did not snorkel.

Reto arranged a taxi for us to/from the airport (HUX) - $50 US one way. It was worth every penny. Since we only had five days (2 travel/3 relax), we had no intention of leaving the beach. But if we wanted to go for an excursion or to one of the nearby towns, Reto could have arranged it for us.

Payment is in MXN Pesos only. We prepaid the hotel via paypal prior to traveling and then took out cash from the ATM at the airport to cover the rest of our stay. Exchange rate is typically best when using an ATM, rather than using one of the cash exchange places at the airports.

If you are a dog lover, you will love Reto's three dogs. They relaxed with the rest of us on the beach all day long.

Really the only down side were the flies at the breakfast buffet. Lots of them, even though they tried to keep the food covered.

“A romantic, rustic retreat”

Bahia de la Luna

We recently spent four days at Bahia de la Luna and it was the perfect place to unwind and relax from our hectic lives. The beach is quite beautiful and the entire place is very peaceful. Reto and his staff are kind and helpful without being intrusive.

The food was delicious! Every day we ate guacamole for lunch, and I think it is some of the best we've ever had. Dinner is usually one special fish dish. I have a seafood allergy but Reto graciously accommodated my needs, and I never worried about any contamination. All the food was tasty. And the candlelit dinners by the beach were so romantic.

If you want to spend quality time with your spouse/family, this is an excellent place to reconnect. It is very peaceful and a great place to read in a hammock and enjoy long swims. It is quite rustic which may not be appealing to everyone--the water is lukewarm, so no hot shower. And being located in a jungle, there are little lizards, bugs, and even a small snake that we encountered. But it is part of the experience.

I recommend this to people looking for a true break from the real world and a beautiful, serene location. And I recommend getting there before it is discovered.

“Lazin' on the Beach”

The silence from Maureen was deafening as we entered our cabana. Not quite the oasis that she had in mind...... Rustic does describe the rooms at Bahia del la Luna. Concrete walls, palapa roof, concrete floors, counters and sink. No lacy frills here, just the basics. Then, that is all we needed. We spent all of our time on the beach under a palapa, reading, swimming, snorkling, kayaking, fishing, sitting, drinking cervezas, munching, chilling, visiting - it never got old. We enjoyed the beach from 6AM until 6PM, cleaned and dressed for dinner and enjoyed twilight at the beach front restaurant. After dinner, we would sit on the adarondak chairs on the beach and watch to moon rise. A hike up the hill to our room by flashlight, hit the hay, and wake up to do it all over again. What a life. Despite a big "hairy spider" and a couple of lizzards in our room, even Maureen came to enjoy our rustic home. Reto and staff made sure that we had everything that we needed and the dinners were excellent. This place is not Cabo, Aculpulco, or Puerto Vallerta. Thank you Reto!!

We had a wonderful time at Bahia de la Luna. We loved every minute of our stay from the moment we stepped out of our taxi. We were welcomed by Andrea and Reto and shown to our cabana. The beach is amazingly beautiful with cabanas set up with chairs to lounge in all day. The water was so much fun to play in! The food was delicious and inexpensive. We loved the chicken quesadillas and the steak sandwich for lunch. Every afternoon, Reto will come around to tell you about the dinner specials. There was always a fish and a meat choice. We loved every dinner we had, but espeically the night we dined on the beach next to the bonfire. The cabanas were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The cold showers felt great after being in the sun all day. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful with non spanish speakers. Ask about getting a massage on the beach! It was fabulous and very inexpensive! We would love to go back to this hotel, it was a week of no decisions and peace.

“Nice place to get away”

I recently stayed here for two nights. The property is beautiful and very secluded. If you are looking to get away from it all this is your spot. This is the type of place where you get know all the other guests because you are at the beach together and eat dinner together. The food at dinner was great and Pablo did an excellant job hosting all the guests.
