My husband and I stayed at this hotel 6/29-7/4. This was my third stay here( his first). It was my first time, however, in a master king suite. My main reason for booking this type of room was the jacuzzi on the patio. We arrived about an hour before check-in but our room was ready. The room was very nice and spacious, with a front room consisting of a couch, entertainment center with a flat screen TV, mini-bar and powder room. The bedroom had a king size bed, bathroom with double sinks and a tub. We did discover a problem with the hot tub not working when we finally returned to our room later that night(11pm). Maintenance was called and came right away and tried to fix it but being that it was late, I told them not to fuss and they said they would be back tomorrow. They did return(we were out) and when we got back it still wasn't working. At this point I called the front desk and explained the situation. We were immediately offered another room of the same type but it offered no privacy as it was on the ground floor, right next to the towel hut. They then offered me a free upgrade to the Governor's Suite, which also had the jacuzzi, which we took. That was the only problem we encountered with the hotel itself and it was handled quickly and efficiently. We ate the breakfast buffet a couple of times, have always enjoyed this. Wide variety of foods, you definitely don't leave there hungry. We did the dinner buffet on Italian night(only because we had an early excursion the next morning and didn't want to be out all night) and that was so-so. But what can you expect?
And this is not something the hotel can control but I found there to be alot of children this visit. I realize that the time of year, etc. that this was a possibility. My previous trips were in February and early May so I had not encountered this before. They do have an area in which the pool is more shallow, I believe 18 inches, which is considered the "kids pool" but for some reason those with small children, insisted on using the main pool. Now I have nothing against kids(did not however, bring mine this time), but I did find it mildly annoying that some of these families felt that thier children should have run of the area. Lesson learned, this time of year either bring the kids or stay at an adult only resort.
The beach has of course changed post-Wilma. I was worried that we would not be able to enjoy it. It has changed in size and there are some huge slabs of rocks, but we still went in the water. Each day there were red flags but some still swam. Hubby and I did venture out but the waves proved to be too much for me and I stuck to the pool. The beach is still beautiful to look at though!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. I would consider staying at a different hotel next time only for some variety!
