Our 4-night stay was wonderful. We didn't bring our kids along, but after seeing the resort, we are planning a trip back with our 4 kids. The kids' club looked like a lot of fun with many activities to do for all ages. The staff seemed great. We were very impressed. The resort has snorkeling right off the beach with a little hut that provides equipment free of charge. We also took a snorkeling tour that was a 10-minute boat ride right off the dock at Dreams. They also have an ocean trampoline and rocking climbing wall for the kids, plus you can rent paddle boats, too. The waiters on the beach were excellent. I think it was a nice touch that they bring you a Corona and when they set it down they say, "Here's your apple juice." They also have an awesome coconut drink served in a fresh coconut daily from 4 - 5:00 p.m. only. The bartender at the beach bar was awesome. We really enjoyed him. The bartenders at the swing bar were also great (although you have to be careful of those swings after you've had a few drinks! I saw a couple of people fall off them!) Rooms were okay. The balcony could've been a little bit bigger/nicer with cushions and pillows. Taking a shower was misery. The water was freezing, but we just dealt with it. I did hear someone staying in the tower say their water was hot and couldn't get any COLD water, so it must be a problem with their system or something. Overall, beach was beautiful. Grounds were well kept and clean. And you absolutely must try the Himitsu restaurant. Everything we had was wonderful. Don't miss it!

“Get the I-prefer card”

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

First I have to say I booked through Bookit. and had absolutely no problems with any part of trip.
Myself and two of my gal friends were here June 9-16th 2007. Arrival included the champagne. Booked an oceanview and received an oceanfront upgrade with an email to the concierge prior to the trip with my iprefer #. Also received 60 free minutes of internet/day. Not sure if they do this for everyone but about 10 minutes after we got to the room we received a bottle of champagne and a fruit basket. Then a few days later we got another bottle of champage chilled on ice. We definitely enjoyed it!

Room
We had a double bed room with a beautiful view of the ocean. Room was clean and they even installed a bottle opener by the fridge on our 4th day. The only one present before was in the bathroom.Turndown service every night with a listing of activities for the next day. Fridge was restocked daily with no trouble. Shower is kind of weird if you are tall. When the spout is pointed outwards the whole bathroom gets wet. Just learned to ask for extra towels.

Food
In my opinion, the best food of any AI I've stayed at so far.World Cafe was great for breakfast. Just don't try everything the first day and you won't get tired of the many selections they offer. Also went there for lunch one day and it was very good. Did dinner there one night and it also was good. My favorite restaurant was the Seaside gril. The chicken mignon was excellent. They do try to push the wine list on you here though which is extra. Oceana was good so my friends said. I didn't particularly care for anything on their menu but try the salmon if you are a seafood lover. Did not try Himitsu. Room service which we ordered at least 1-2 times/day was good and timely. Can't beat 24 hours/day room service

Pools/Beach
I have to say this was the worst case of the towel game I've seen thus far at any resort. It's not the staff's fault that people were coming down in their pajamas at 7am when I'm going to the gym to put towels down but there were people complaining just the same. We were only able to sit by the pool one day of 8 because there were absolutely no chairs after 830am. I thought the pool size was ok just not enough loungers and the swim up bar made excellent drinks. Also, saw the towel game at the main beach. Anytime between 9am and 12pm forget it but after that time people seemed to give chairs up. No one gave up pool chairs til after 4pm
Service/drinks
Kind of inconsistent here. First day we forgot our cash upstairs and didn't have tip money and got ZERO service at the beach after our initial drink even though we saw several waiters in the beach area. Hate to say but it did make a difference when we tipped. Very poor service at the Barracuda bar 3 days in a row. Waiters routinely ignored people sitting there for 10 minutes(namely us smiling and politely asking for attention) in favor of people walking up with dollar bills in hand. We did tip waiters, bartenders, and restaurant servers when good service was received. Unless you asked for specific brands, cheap no name liquor was used in the mixed drinks. Did get a few looks(not sure why?) when I asked for Cuervo or Sauza instead of Primero(cheap tequila) but they did accomodate
Entertainment
The hypnotist show was great as well as the Mayan show. Didn't really see any other shows at the resort. We did go out with the entertainment staff twice who told us we would get VIP entrance and a table which we didn't get so next time might as well go on yourr own if you have to stand all night but they were so much fun we didn't mind too much

For everyone
For those singles who think this resort is for families only, think again. We, 3 single ladies, had a great time and found lots of singles and couples who were very friendly and talkative. The entertainment staff did try to keep us busy. Didn't see that many kids except at the buffet. Overall, one of my fav resorts so far

“Dreams is a dream!”

My boyfriend and I stayed at Dreams Cancun last fall and we loved this hotel. We did the all-inclusive option and loved how there were five restaurants to choose from, and the food was great for the most part. (not so good for vegetarians) There were plenty of lounge chairs to sit on and relax by their beautiful beach and waiters would come by and bring you drinks or food whenever you wanted (free with the all inclusive option). The rooms were very big and comfortable, and the maid service cleaned them twice a day! Overall, this hotel is very luxurious and deserves the highest rating possible, we would stay there again in a heartbeat!

“The Explorers Club was great!”

The Kids Club was the best place to stay for me, Lotti, Mari, Malena, Rossy, and Elena were so nice to me there, they treated me like family. I liked all of the activities and crafts that we did there. I was upset to leave.

“A perfect vacation”

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

My husband and I (both 40) just returned from a 7 day stay at Dreams. Our question is: why would anyone go anywhere else? The resort has more ocean frontage than any other hotel in Cancun (3 sides are ocean!), wonderful service, a great location, great food and superb staff!

We stayed at Dreams in mid June and here are the sweet surprises:

Friendly all the time staff
Family friendly and not family-annoying (we left our three kids at home and seesawed between wanting them there and glad for some alone-time)
Dolphins were fun to watch morning and night and the program is longer and more interactive than others!
Though you are less than a mile from downtown Cancun, you didn't feel as if you needed to party it up every night
Great drinks
I was a non-buffet person, but I am now a buffet fanatic after World Cafe
Views were incredible
Ocean front room worth the money-no afternoon sun and the ocean surf sound all night long-even with the door closed!
Pyramid building open in the center with lush greens-really private, but still rooms all around

Some not-so great surprises (but not bad enough to keep us from making a return trip):

Door key didn't work three separate times, frustrating to wait for new keys, etc.
Menus a bit limited at restaurants (Seaside, Oceana and Hmitsu)
Not the great silver deals that we found in Playa Del Carmen

Tips: Bring a digital camera-so easy to use
Sunblock provided is only 15-bring stronger!
Bring Ipod-it hooks to clock radio in room
Free, easy and quick WiFi in lobby-great place if you have to do work (or homework)
DVD player in room-bring your own (rent in lobby, but limited choice and they go fast)
Choose the Selvatica zip line tour: half day, fun and well done, only $70

A note not related to Dreams: We were very (and I am being nice) disappointed in Travelocity and Spirit Airlines. Transportation to and from hotel never faxed to us and it was cheaper to use hotel taxi service ($13 each way), Spirit changed our flights from non-stop to one stop in Ft. Lauderdale without notification (we booked 5 months in advance) and Travelocity didn't back us up at all. We ended up with an hour extra travel time on the way to Cancun (and a stop to change planes) which wasn't too bad but on the way home, we went from a non-stop flight of 4 hours from Cancun to Detroit to an hour delayed flight out of Cancun, 5 hours layover (they said one hour, same plane but we had to get off, go through Immigration and missed the outgoing flight, then rechecked and rebooked to an overbooked flight-some didn't even get that flight) in Fort Lauderdale and finally in to Detroit 15 hours after we left the resort. Spirit would not even acknowledge our questions. Our advice: Book it on your own and pay extra for a decent flight/airline.

Dreams was truly a dream come true!
