“Fantastic Holiday and am going back next year”

Blue Bay Club Cancun

I stayed at the Blue Bay Club Hotel and really did not know what to expect, when we got to Mexico the our transfer bus took us to blu bay club and on the way i was a bit worried as they took us through town whch was a bit rough? so thought ohh damm what have i booked, however when we got to the hotel i was qyuite amazed as its away from all the hussle and bussle and is a nice family hotel? no young people getting drunk at the bars and shouting at all. The beach is out of this world and its a provate so you dont have to worry about the germans taking all the spaces. The hotel staff are wicked and are always there to help and make your stay at blue bay an experience which for me it was. I have loved it there so much i really was sad to leave. My advice to anyone would be to book a ocean view room as it so nice waking up in the morning and seeing the sun beaming down on your face... Loved it so much am going back there next year for my birthday again. Blue Bay Club.... good choice if you want a stress free and relaxing holiday or the Grand Blue Bay if you want to party and be close to all the shops or town centres then stay there. but my choice was Blue Bay Club.... Wicked :-)

“A little piece of Mexico”

Blue Bay Club Cancun

The hotel is situated about a 20 minute taxi ride outside of the hotel zone.It has loverly white sandy beach and is in a very quite spot close to a small marina. There are no bars or restaurants outside of the hotel.About 3 miles down the road to the right of the hotel is a residential area which is a nice walk to take,There is also some old ruins in a park that no one seems to tell you about. there is also another ferry port here to the island. The hotel is furnished with excellent furniture and decor,Some of the junior suites on the second and third floors are a little old and need a little care taken of.The food in the hotel was very good for a 3 star hotel and the staff are very helpfull and friendly. The A LA CARTE Restaurant is very good with a excellent choice of menu, and the service was very good .The only promblem I found with this property was the clientel from the U.K. who just went there to get drunk and be abusive to the other guests, It is sad when this minority show the incorrect way of the British abroad.Cancun is not my favourite place in Mexico, but the Mexican people are so friendy they make you want to return to Mexico.

“When can we go back?!”

Blue Bay Club Cancun

Jun 3, 2008

We booked 4 nights at the Blue Bay to finish our holiday in Cancun (having spent the first 3 nights at the Westin on a 'gifted' break we wanted to try a different, more affordable location).
The Blue Bay is an all-inclusive resort, which is great because it's a good 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Hotel Zone (and therefore all the night life and restaurants!). The all-inclusive dinner buffet was a good option for those nights were we just didn't fancy going back out of the resort and the menu was varied and tasty.
The staff at the Blue Bay can't be faulted for their politeness and eagerness to please. The 'entertainment' staff are particualarly good, and the "pre-hispanic extravaganza" show on Monday nights is not to be missed!
One thing to watch out for is the "free tour of the hotel facilities" offered by the concierge - this is actually an invitation to a time share presentation! However, in exchange for attending, you will be offered a FREE day-trip to the Isla Mujures via the hotels own Catamaran (which was definately worth spending two hours listening to information about the "VIP" package).
The room was huge, with two double beds, a sofa bed and a kitchen area with fridge and microwave. We also had access directly to the beach from our ground floor room. It was cleaned daily and we had no complaints.
The Blue Bay also has two bars (one inside and one on the terrace by the pool) and a snack bar in addition to the breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet dining area. The Pool is good; very kid-friendly and not too deep. Also has a basketball hoop and a lot of organised activities take place nearby, so not a very quiet environment.
One important thing to note; although the location is a bit removed from the mail Hotel Zone, the sea is much calmer than beaches at the other hotels - which means swimming is almost always possible... we spent 3 nights at the Westin and were never allowed in the water due to the 5 foot high waves!
At the Blue Bay we even managed to snorkel and saw plenty of fish on their 'artificial reef'.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay, and would love to go back... the Blue Bay is totally kid-friendly so if you're looking for a more 'adult' hotel perhaps best to try the Blue Bay's sister hotel "Temptation" (but we thought it was a bit too "club med" for our taste).

“Good value for the money”

Blue Bay Club Cancun

4 of 5 stars
East Amherst, NY

My wife and I recently returned from the Blue Bay and we had a wonderful time there. We went expecting 3-star services and amenities (since we were paying 3-star rates) and in many areas it proved to be more like a 4-star, so it seemed like a good deal for the money. Here is a breakdown on a few aspects of the BBC:

Location: We liked that the BBC is not located in the Hotel Zone and is much smaller than most of those hotels. My wife and I were looking for a relaxing trip (our first without our four young children in some time). If you want more of a Vegas-type environment with large hotels, chain restaurants and night clubs, then this may not be a good fit. We ended up taking a cab a bit more than we might have staying elsewhere, but cabbing was easy and still made for a far cheaper stay than being somewhere else.

Service: Our trip started out on the wrong note as they did not have the type of room we reserved available (bring your receipt). We were trying to be understanding but the front desk staff had a terrible attitude about trying to rectify things so we took a different kind of room for the night. We thought maybe we would get better staff in the morning but they were even worse. One even mocked us for wanting the nicer room we had paid for. This was a terrible start, but it got better from there as we were finally upgraded on Day 2 and we didn't have to interact with them much after that. The rest of the staff (waiters/bartenders/bellmen) were uniformly excellent. They seemed to take pride in their work and we enjoyed getting to know them a bit. Whomever is in charge of hiring and training these folks needs to be put in charge of the front desk too.

Room: We were in a ocean-view jr. suite that was spacious, very clean, and about 40 yards from the ocean. A major plus. We saw several rooms as we were trying to get our room situation fixed and they did vary a bit in how recently they'd been renovated.

Food/Beverage: Again, we expected 3-star food and it may be a bit better than that. The buffet was fine (certainly well-run) and the "Italian" restaurant was better (outside and close to the ocean). The "fancy" restaurant was quite nice, although only one meal was covered in our package. We were a little disappointed there wasn't more Mexican food available. If you want authentic Mexican food, take a cab to downtown Cancun (NOT the Hotel Zone). We had some excellent meals there. Note that although premium liquor is touted, we were told when we arrived that it is only for those with RCI packages (less than 5% of guests when we were there).

We were looking for a relaxing, sunny vacation by the beach -- with a few interesting day trips thrown in. The Blue Bay Club delivered and was a good value for the money.

“good hotel, good holiday”

Blue Bay Club Cancun

4 of 5 stars
lincolnshire
May 25, 2008

we stayed at the blue bay club at the end of april/start may, we had already researched the hotel on this, and other review websites so we knew the location was out of the "strip", that it was an older style mexican hotel and that there would be seaweed on the beach of a morning! the only concern we had was that we wanted to be on the beach side of the hotel, we had heard about the annexe across the road and didn't want to be roomed there, luckily we weren't and had a beautiful ocean view room and thats how the holiday started. having said that, we met a family from cambridge who were roomed there, they were happy to be there as it was quieter than the main block and this suited them more, its got a little pool and gets the sun for longer so, its swings and roundabouts really, we were told if you don't like it there they would move you over as soon as a room was free. if not there and then.
The food is more than adequate in the main restaurant, we always found nice things to eat, although friends we met whilst there had different views and were the unluckiest eaters i've ever met! you'll probably read their report on here soon. The staff at this hotel are second to none, our experiences with all the staff were pleasant and
enjoyable, we felt we were welcomed and tipped mainly at the end. a few names spring to mind, charly for kornhole 10.30, luis for teaching us how to sail and dishing out the kayaks (they're free), dario , martha, jaochim and the dj, alexandro and orlando at the bar and all the waiting guys,
front desk people and andy the thomas cook rep, all most willing to help and happy to help make your holiday as fun as it can be.
the hotel is older styled but its part of its charm, its very clean and well looked after.

the location is way out of the strip, but thats ok, the food is wide and varied and i'd say the majority of the guests while we were there were happy with it, the beers ok, flows freely, the entertainment crew are amazing considering their energy and drive, from early in the morning to way past our bedtimes!

we'd go back to bbc, no hesitation at all.

cancuns a blast, expensive , but a blast. GO to coco bongo, the best club i've ever been to, too stunning and unbelieveable to describe in detail, just imagine mardi gras, notting hill carnival mixed with vegas showtime and live trapeze artists all floating over your head while spiderman in full costume fights the green goblin on the bar!

shopping is good at the flea markets, you get hassled a bit but its not that nasty, everywhere else like the shopping malls are quite expensive, souvenirs were cheap at chichen itza, half the prices in cancun.

we got taxis from all over cancun to the hotel and the prices changed constantly, so we asked for a taxi in the end, they told us a price, we said no, they said a lower price, we said no and then they said how much did we want to pay? then we told them and they took us! be brave.

if you do go, have fun you lucky people
