I just wanted to write a review for all of you that are skeptical like I was after reading some of the other "not-so-nice" reviews. My husband and I booked our trip to the Great Parnassus for our one year anniversary. We wanted to go somewhere different than where we have been in the past. We got a Lagoon Suite on the 8th floor that was wonderful!!! The view was great and it was nice and quiet since it overlooked the adult pool on the 2nd floor. The room was always clean and stocked with water and towels everyday. If we needed anything, all we had to do was ask and they were there very quickly! We tipped all the waiters, bartenders and maids daily and I think that really helped out with the service we got... even though it was not mandatory. And personally, why not tip? The meals, drinks and everything else is already included... why not tip these people that are bending over backwards trying to please you on your vacation?!?!

This hotel was wonderful and relaxing and I cannot wait to go back! We plan on going next year as well!

“Pros and Cons”

Great Parnassus Resort and Spa

My boyfriend and I just returned from a 7 night stay at the Great Parnassus at the end of June. Overall we had a great time at the hotel.... here are some pros and cons to look out for before booking your trip.

Room- Our room was the lagoon suite which overlooked the hilton golf course and the adult pool. The view was amazing. Our balcany had a large double jacuzzi which worked fine.

PROS :Very soon after we first got to our room, the bellboy brought us our bags, and the front desk people brought us a fruit basket, champaign and a beautiful flower arrangment.
Our shower had many jets and a seat which felt good on my back
CONS: very crappy job at constructing the whole room. There was spots where tile had chiped and caulk smeared in some areas.
Bed was very firm
Sometimes it is loud at night when you are trying to sleep because the sound echos alot since it is open in the center of the hotel.

Food
PROS: BIG BEN was very good. Many options to choose from.
Buffalo wings at big ben are really good.
The ie cream at the deli is really tasty and the pastries too!
CONS: The french restuarant was okay. no children alowed and men cannot wear jeans or sandals.

Beach
PROS: breathtaking water color, warm
CONS: big rocks, 13 ft waves at times, bad undertoe. Be careful.

Service and Staff
PROS: Staff was very helpful and nice. Out by the pool, there are always activities to do during the day that the staff come up with such as pool vollyball, basketball, ect. very fun!!
the service was okay, quick with refills and food.
CONS: none

Well, I hope this helps some of you, if you are picky about details, I wouldnt recoomend you stay here just because the hotel was built half-[-] and there are unfinished spots in alot of places. I would not recomend anyone come here for a relaxing and peaceful honeymoon.
This is a nice place for families with young kids because there is so much for them to do, aka kids club etc.
If you choose to stay here, I hope you have a great vacation!!!

6/21-6/25 Okay, the first day I drained the bath tub and water started spewing like a fountain out of he floor drain. It flooded 3inches! No one came till the next day not to worried because we were switching rooms anyways due to the loud ac from the Hilton.Major stink in the front of resort sewer problems? The 2nd day went to the ocean prepared with water shoes and my husband, 3 children (9,11,13) legs were so cut up from the hiding rocks. This resorts caters to young adults "spring breakers" ie teqilla volley ball, jaeger bomb contest on the beach and strip bikini contest. Which the staff was encouraging don't get me wrong I like a good time, just that we brought our kids w/ intentions of a family resort. No one gave us a map of the resort. The overall flow of the resort is from one side to the other. But we're adventurous, The food wasn't that bad, Big Bens was excellent, Staff works hard I did notice no one tipping which results in short nerves so tip!! this resort is esthetically beautiful, its a shame not to have the same high expectaions in public relations. All things negative were beyond our control so vacation is what you make of it..Due to lack of personal attention and safety we will not go back. We got what we paid for fam of 5 just under $5k

“Great Vacation”

Great Parnassus Resort and Spa

We were pleasantly surprised with this Resort. We were nervous after reading reviews before our trip, but don't let others opinions cloud your experience. We had Lagoon suites, which were very beautiful and clean, with a beautiful view. We did have a couple of minor issues, but they were addressed immediately. The couple that we traveled with had an issue with their room flooding, but the staff jumped right in there and moved their things to another room. They were actually moved to an ocean front room. The food was average, which is to be expected when you book at an all- inclusive Resort. The drinks are weak, but they are more than happy to make them to your liking. The pools are beautiful and refreshing. The beach is very small, and rocky. Our family did try to venture into the ocean a little farther down from the Resort, but found that the ocean was just too strong. There's not a great deal going on as far as nightlife at this Resort, however they did have a tour every night around 10pm that took you out to all of the hot spots. We chose to do our own thing and hopped on the bus which is .65 cents each way and you could always get on in front of the Resort with little to no wait, as they travel frequently. We visited Isla Muerijas on 2 different days. It was beautiful! If you get the chance to visit, it's well worth it. We went to the marina the first day, and rented a boat and a local who worked there drove us where ever we wanted for as long as we wanted for $25. per person. There were 4 of us. He waited on the boat for us while we relaxed on the beach all afternoon. (The boat was very small, but served it's purpose) We took the ferry the next day for $7. each. Many people commented on the amount of kids at the Resort. They were right. However, the kids were older, teenagers, not a bunch of small kids running around. They definetly did not bother us though. Not really sure what the age limit is there for alcohol consumption as it flowed to the teenagers as well as the adults. Some of them didn't look much older than 13. So they were definetly having a great time. We had a great trip overall, even with the little bumps along the trip. We can't wait to go back to Cancun!

“Much Better than Expected”

Great Parnassus Resort and Spa

3 of 5 stars

We stayed at the Great Parnassus the first week of June and had a great time. We had actually tried to switch our reservations to the Golden Parnassus, due to the reviews being so negative and we are very glad they didn't let us.
Room - Club suite was very clean and had a beautiful view. Tipped everyday and left a note asking for water. Always had plenty. Also, I think due to the location the club suites tend to be a little more quite. We had no complaints about noise. The bathroom had a teriible smell the first day. Noticed the drain in the shower was clogged. We stopped at the front desk and asked them to fix it, we went to the gift shop and by the time we returned he was already in the room fixing it. The smell disapeared.
Beach - The beach was nice for walking and looking for shells but that's about it. You could not go in the water. I thought the reviews were exagerating but it is true. There is an area by the Hilton where you can get up to your knees but that's it. There are rocks everywhere. My husband cut his foot first the day we arrived.
We asked for a day pass to the Golden (some of the reviews mention the great beach). What a joke. I am so glad they did not let us switch our reservations. This place is in major need of updates. I'd guess that 50% of the beach chairs were broken. Your basically laying on top of people, the beach is so small and they had the same problem., a drop off and rocks. The van from the hotel will come and go every hour. We only stayed 45 minutes. We walked down the street to get the bus. We didn't want to stay there the extra 15 minutes. It was that bad. Also, a women kept coming up to us about time shares.
Food - We both thought the food was very good. We ate only at Big Ben, Manhattan and Portofino. We never eat Italian away from home (it's never the same). We thought we give it a shot and it was very good. We both thought the service was excellent and even the morning buffet the staff was alway offering more coffee, etc. They were actually around too much. A little uncomfortable.
Entertainment Staff was very funny and they work so hard. They'd be out at 8am by the pool and then taking us to the clubs at 11pm.
Yes, the resort looks rushed. Paint job is terrible, broken tile, mold, but it didn't ruin our time. We did exactly what we came to do, get some sun, swim (in the pools), drink, relax, have fun and reconnect and we did.
