My family just returned from Cancun and we had the time of our lives. I have to be really honest - I booked all of our trips based on reviews that I read on Trip Advisor.
Of all the things we tried this was my least favorite. Let me share a few pros and cons before you book this trip.
Pros:
1. Pepe (the tour guide) is great. This tour is ranked #1 only because Pepe is the guide.
2. If you have small children, an anxious spouse or older family members with you this tour is great.
3.The zoo is great for kids
4. The Jeeps are new and safe.
Cons:
1. The tour is expensive for what it offers.
2. The ceynote is a hole in the ground and honestly the worst one I've visited. It has an actual swimming area of only 15' x 20' which, would be large enough but once you get in the ceynote with 2 or 3 other tour groups (30 - 60 people) it quickly loses its appeal.
4. The buffet on the beach is just some picnic tables with 3 or 4 items to chose from (fish tacos, chicken tacos, rice & beans or salsa & chips). The tables are covered in bird droppings and the two tables we tried to sit at had nails sticking out of them as well as ants all over the place.
5. The zip line is very, very, very, tame and attached to a jury rigged homemade tower.
Overall, my thoughts are this. This last trip to Cancun was the best one I've ever taken. With that said I've taken 4 jungle tours in Cancun and seen how much more there is to offer and other than Pepe's personality this isn't a must do. If you like extreme or even moderately extreme activities this is going to depress you. I had a 6, 8 and 10 year old with me so this fit the bill.
I could tell that the guys and the honeymooners were bored out of their minds. The kids and the old ladies loved Pepe and the Zoo.
Overall, I didn't think this tour was very professional. From losing our booking, to them telling us they had overbooked and could we go another day, to having to fill our own gas tanks, the minimal lunch, the shaky zip line tower etc. etc.
Hope that helps,
JD
