“Great Value”

Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort

Had our first stay a the Fiesta Americana and we can't wait to get back. We would agree that if your looking to party hardy this isn't the place but if you want good room value and a quieter place this is it. We had no problem with any of the staff and found them very helpful.

We had a package that included 25% discounts on food and beverage and this worked for us better than AI. We ate breakfast and dinner there since we stayed on the beach most days. The food was fine. Would recommend the cuban sandwich-quite good.

The dive shop was fine and close. We would recommend renting a dive watch This would have allowed us to stay down longer but it was not explained very well.

We also went into town ($6.00 each way) and found some great food values in the town square off the main road. La Cocay is a place we found that has wonderful food and the owners were execllent. We paid attention to the ships and mostly missed the cruisers. Recommend walking through the square off the main road as the further you get away the cheaper everything seems to become.

“Not worth the money”

Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort

We went all-inclusive, the food was so bad we went to town to eat at $200.00 per meal. The flies on the food was terrible and the steak tastes like ALPO. Then we all got the Montezuma Revenge and are all still sick and on antibiotics after 10 days. My suggestion, spend a little more money and go to a real beach and vacation spot somewhere other than Mexico.

“Good value for $80 a night”

Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort

We got a great deal for the Fiesta American for $82 USD per night (not part of the all inclusive). The hotel itself was nice, the pool areas were great and the beach area was relaxing. The snorkling was great around the pier. The staff was okay- not great but not rude either.

We did not eat here because of other reviews and instead went to Money Bar- a cute little restaurant that is about a 5 minute walk north of the hotel for lunches and then into town for dinners ($6 USD taxu fare- be sure to confirm this amount before you step into a taxi as some will try to charge more). We definitely recommend going to Money Bar- there is a wide variety of food and everything we had was tasty. There are also some good places in town like Cafe Denis (mind blowing Chile Rellano) and La Choza (great steak fajitas).

The rooms are clean but a bit older- but again, a great value for $82 USD! Nice little patio and lovely views. Comfortable beds and decent size. This is not a luxury resort like Cozumel Palace but we felt that it was a really good value for the price.

Great for families and people looking for relaxation. Also good location for diving as lots of the dive sites are in that area or south. Probably not the best hotel for people looking to party hard as it is outside of town and is pretty quiet overall.

“Nice Rooms Bad Pool Staff”

Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort

Jun 4, 2008

Stayed here for 4 nights. Great location for diving and relaxing away from the cruise ship mayhem that rolls into downtown Cozumel every day. The rooms were more then adequate for $70 (US) a night. The front end staff was great and very helpful in recommending great restaurants and giving us impromptu Spanish lessons. The 2 pools are in great location over looking the amazing blue water of the Caribbean Sea. The dive shop is easily accessed from the hotel dock. We ate breakfast and lunch here almost daily and never had any stomach issues and was pretty happy with the taste and quality of the food offered.
Okay so the downsides:
The pool staff was completely useless. The one waitress that always seemed to be working when we visited the pool was a complete waste. At one point we waited to see if she would leave her standard location of keeping the bartender company. We waited 45 minutes before our thirst took over and I went to the bar. She was suddenly very helpful in writing down our order and handing off our drink, angling for the tip that would never come. This was a reoccurring theme during our stay. The main hotel pool has a swim up bar we witnessed the waitress, bartender, and “activities directors” walk across the bar instead of ducking below the typical entry way. Not the most hygienic of bar tops.
Now for the dive shop. The dive masters and boat staff were great, tip top. The equipment was pretty good. The one down side was the Texas fan working the desk. He was one of the laziest people I have ever dealt with. He easily could have let divers know that dive computers were available and would add time to their dives and enhance their experience. He time and time again neglected to pass this information along. The dive shop which was 10 steps away from his stool that he was surgically attached to was never open. When I asked if he could open the shop he said that it was closed and wouldn’t be open till 9 the next morning, this is after all the dive boats would head out for the day. Make sure you rent a dive computer from the shop this will add to your experience.
Have a great trip.

“Wonderful Stay . . .No illness!!!”

Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort

5 of 5 stars
Houston, Texas

We just returned from our yearly trip to Fiesta Americana and had another wonderful stay. The rooms are clean and spacious with good AC and great views. The maid service is excellent and all the staff helped our large group with whatever request we had.

We ate breakfast and lunch there every day and ate out in the evenings (nothing against the food at Fiesta) we just all love a couple of restaurants in town. The breakfast sat Fiesta are great and very comprehensive, same with the lunches. . . . .tuna tacos and grouper sandwich deserve notable mention. None of our group got ill and never in previous stays either.

Diving was very well organised as usual and despite the strong currents (not typical) snorkelling from the beach will offer some cool surprises apart the myriad of beautiful fish we've seen sting ray, octopus and giant barracuda.

Fiesta always ensures we have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation in a beautiful, clean resort. Counting the days until we'll be back.
