We looked up reviews on tripadvisor and this was one of the top ranked. The price was reasonable, and we did not expect 5 star accomodations. The rooms were clean, but a bit aged and our room was a bit musty. The kitchen left a bit to be desired as the appliances (sink, fridge, and microwave) were a bit old too. But overall not bad. There is not a pool there, but a patio with outdoor furniture to sit outside. They mentioned that they are in the process of some renovations (furniture). The rooms are 2-story suites which was nice. The location was good as it is right in the middle of town so is near lots of places to eat, etc. We were there to dive, so it was near the dive shops. The docks that the boats leave from is only a few blocks away, so you are the first on the boat. Not necessarily the best thing as it can be a long boat ride to pick up the rest of your group from their pier and get to the dive site. So that is one disadvantage to staying in town. But you have much more flexibilty to eat and do what you want in town so we were glad we were there. There isn't really a beach in town, which would also be an advantage to staying at a resort south of town. We didn't mind much though since we were diving every day. Just depends on what you are looking for. The caretakers at Villa Las Anclas were very nice and we enjoyed talking to them. They will arrange a taxi for you from the airport to the ferry, but take the bus. Much cheaper and the buses are very nice.
