We just returned from our 3-day trip from Casa Viento on Cozumel. Beautiful location away from the crowds of the center of San Miguel de Cozumel. Close to a beautiful beach off the beaten track, the hotel offers nicely decorated, well maintained and equipped rooms (Air-Con, Frigde, Coffee-Maker). Our room had a beautiful terrace with view to the sea - the perfect location for breakfast and/or afternoon-coffee. The owner´s are heartly and focused on the guest´s needs!
Next time we go to Cozumel it will be Casa Viento again!

“What a Wonderful experience!!!”

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the best vacation we have ever had!!! We found great reviews on TripAdvisor and decided to try it out. Nic, Raul, Jaz and the rest of the wonderful staff here were so helpful and friendly that we have already decided to plan another trip back. They gave us great tips, advice and directions on how to navigate Cozumel and local culture and they truely made it a home away from home for us. One could not ask for better service!!! Nic even helped us plan special suprises for each other before we even got married! These folks take the time to really allow their guests to enjoy their vacation and we cannot thank them enough for the wonderful experience we had! If you go to Cozumel, you MUST stay at Casa Viento! Tell them Jenna and Larry sent you, and just a side note-don't wear jewelry in the ocean... :) Have a great trip!!!

I recently returned from a trip to Cozumel and can't rate Casa Viento highly enough! The friendliness of our hosts, as well as their spot-on recommendations for local restaurants and other activities on the island, truly made for an amazing visit. Cute pets too!! We were so sad to leave...other hotels that we have stayed in in the area (including the a-i Cozumel Palace), can't even compare to the overall experience. Highly recommended!

“a great Cozumel experience!”

Casa Viento

My husband I stayed at Casa Viento for a long weekend in Cozumel and we promised to go back... and we intend to keep that promise. Nicole, Raul and Jazmyn (Raul's daughter) are incredible hosts and will make sure you have a great vacation!

We got married six months ago (May 2007) at the Occidental Grand located on the south end of the island. 90 people traveled to Cozumel to attend our wedding so the all-inclusive Occidental Grand was a great choice and wonderful experience. We wanted something very different for this next trip though.

The main purpose for this trip was to take advantage of low-season pricing (airfare was so reasonably priced) and finally get scuba certified. We wanted to avoid an all-inclusive atmosphere and focus on relaxation, scuba and exploring. We found exactly what we were looking for when we stumbled upon Casa Viento on travelocity. We booked guestroom #3 only 2 weeks before our trip and we weren't entirely sure about what to expect.

I emailed Casa Viento a few days before our trip to ask about booking scuba. Nicole (the owner) emailed back to me but the emails would get lost in cyberspace somewhere. Eventually the emails worked and she took care of EVERYTHING for us. When we arrived at Casa Viento, we were warmly greeted by Nicole and Jazmyn. We got settled (quickly) and sat by the pool with Nicole for a while. She explained how things worked -- they lived at the house within the same complex right next to the pool. You can see right into their kitchen/living room while sitting at the pool. Our visit should be viewed as if we're at a guest house visiting friends and not like we're staying at a regular hotel. Then Raul dropped us off in town, which is five minutes away, to check-in with Deep Blue (the dive shop) and have some dinner.

We had coffee with Nic, Raul and Jazmyn almost every morning. Raul graciously drove us into town numerous times. I can't imagine better hosts -- they were even better hosts than some of my friends I visit when traveling! It may take some getting used to though. I definitely felt a bit awkward just knocking on their door in the morning for coffee. I would hang around the pool area trying to be polite... You get the hang of it though after a few days.

Location --
Casa Viento is within the Country Club Estates, which is all residential. Their security guards are always sitting outside, which makes you feel super safe... plus they are sooo friendly and helpful. I suggest renting a car but we didn't so it's totally do-able. We would just walk next door to the Melia Hotel and get a taxi from their taxi stand. The cab fare was 50 pesos ($5) each way. We never had an issue... plus Raul drove us into town a bunch of times, which helped.

Beach --
The beach isn't the beautiful beach you see in postcards. We didn't spend any time on the beach though so it was ok for us. We spent all our time doing scuba.

Rooms --
The rooms are adequate. They have the normal humid but air-conditioned environment other hotels provide. The bed and pillows were a bit hard but we had a few cervezas before bed and slept beautifully. The wall to the bathroom doesn't go all the way to the ceiling, which can be awkward when someone has to do their business - even if you're married, it's awkward. I would just go hang by the pool and talk to Nic when my husband occupied the bathroom.

Residents --
In addition to Nicole, Raul and Jazmyn... there are other residents that love the company. Diva is the cutest and most lovable cockerpsaniel (sp?). Tiki is a three year old parrot who loves his morning coffee and took a liking to my husband. There are two resident turtles in the backyard, also, but I only remember the name of Roxy and not the other. Oh well.

Kiteboarding --
Raul runs a kiteboarding camp from Casa Viento (which actually means House of the Wind). We didn't get to kiteboard or even watch any kiteboarding but it sounds really cool. We'll be back to try it out. A friend just told me she tried kiteboarding in Vietnam and got certified - so I'll suggest she visits Raul in Cozumel, also.

“If Ever in Cozumel Stay Here”

Casa Viento

5 of 5 stars

Hi !! Our family stayed at Casa Viento in Cozumel last weekend and I wanted to share our experience with you all.

The minute our car arrived in the driveway we were welcomed so warmly and sincerely by Nicole and Yazmin, the air of relaxation oozed off their faces and already helped to relax us even before we set foot into the hotel. They helped us in with our luggage which was so appreciated... we really felt welcomed.

Our room (#4) was very clean, completely organized, and was totally child proof (we have 4 kids of 6, 4, 2, and 1 years). When I say child proof... I mean we could enjoy very nice decorations and at the same time not have to worry that our kids might damage any of it.. both sides happy! And not decorations carrying the energy... "easy, cheap and fast with no touch of dedication..." These decorations were thought about, looked for and put there with a real love for art and you could feel that. It made our stay warm and personal rather than cold and impersonal.

The kitchen had all the utensils I could possibly think of and more, when they say fully equipped, it really is so and not with old, half broken, utensils, yet with new and pretty ones including microwave and fridge in perfect conditions and now a brand new stove.

The beds were absolutely fantastic... a magical fairy dust was sprinkled on them because I can't remember when I slept so deeply and so comfortably, amazing! I really need to emphasize on the beds because they are truly magical! Although we had a short stay we relaxed so profoundly.

Waking up after such a delicious night sleep and seeing the kids have so much fun in the pool made us so happy.

If ever in Cozumel please consider staying at Casa Viento, you won't regret it.
