Casa Viento

My Wife and I stayed at Casa Viento at the beggining of January and had an amazing ten days - We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was nicely decorated, comfy bed, great private patio area over looking the pool with amazing views of sunsets, sunrises and watch the kites & cruise ships come and go.
The room was clean, well stocked and instantly felt like home.

Casa Viento is just on the outskirts yet an easy drive or taxi to pretty much anywhere on the island - so you can escape the cruiseship mobs and see the real Cozumel. Peaceful days and nights and really close to a great beach, and also close enough to get into town for dinner etc.

Nicole, Raul, Jazmyn and Diva were amazing hosts. Extremely welcoming and friendly and really looked after us. Would deffinitely recomend the kite surfing with Raul - Iam completely hooked!

In all an excellent stay, we will defintely be coming back. Cant recommend highley enough - If you go to Cozumel you must stay here.

If you do not want to feel or be treated like a tourist, then Casa Viento is your place. I went here because of the trip advisor comments and every comment was true. This place is great. You really get the island feel and pace when your there. I don't believe that you could stress about anything even if you wanted to. The owner/operators Nicole, Raul, and Jazmine are genuinely nice, very helpful, and just truly great people. I felt like family the whole time, especially when they invited me to thanksgiving dinner, Mexican style! If your a kiter, there is no where else you would want to stay. Your about a 3 minute walk from kite beach and the north wind does not disappoint. There is no localism unlike other places I've been kiting. I definitely recommend Casa Viento to all. Hope this was helpful.

Casa viento is a bit off the beaten track. It is very clean and is located in quiet surroundings. Renting a car for your stay is good for getting around the island. The owners and daughter are very friendly and helpful. They provide any help you need, but are not at all nosy. We didn't want an all-inclusive, busy tourist place and Casa viento turned out to be perfect for us. If you want to be in walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants, this is not your place. If you want a good value, personal attention in a family atmosphere, peace and quiet, this is for you. We began and ended our trip here and were permitted to leave a suitcase so we didn't have to take all our belongings. We were very pleased with the accomodations. The bed was very comfortable and the swimming pool was quite pleasant. The beach is only a two-minute walk from the house. Finally, the pets (charming dog and parrot) were lots of fun.

“Comfortable place, great hosts!”

Jazmyn met us with a smile when we arrived, and helped us get settled in, even walking with us up the road to show us where the closest ATM machine, lobster restaurant, taxi, and car rental places were. We had taken the taxi-service bus from the airport. (At the airport, there were lots of men that wanted to rent us a car at an unbelievably cheap price, however, they seemed to have an entire agenda - and I'm not sure they weren't the time-share folks we read about to avoid - so we made an effort to avoid spending too much time with them, to take the taxi-service bus to Casa Viento. We had read about how helpful our hosts would be, and planned to get their advice about renting a car after we got settled in.)

Our place (#5) was next to the pool, and surrounded by lush tropical plants. It contained a small bedroom, a changing room (or walk-in closet), and a bathroom (actually a shower, not a bath). The king-size bed was very comfortable. There was a small refrigerator (which we stocked with breakfast items from the supermarket) and a coffee-maker (bring or buy coffee and filters.) Drinking water was available at the hosts' house, and they offered hot coffee in the mornings, though we made our own.

Nicole, Raul and Jazmyn were our hosts. They have prepared a helpful and complete book of information about great places to eat, see, etc. We found the advice to be "right on", and went to several of those places, as well as restaurants we liked the looks of. We love music, so were looking for that as well. The Mission had marichi music, The Choza had an amazing duo of guitar playing men, well-practiced and fine musicians. There was often live music on the main square at night.

The cocker spaniel, Diva, joined us at breakfasts on our porch and was pleased to accept a bit of buttered bread (though she did not beg. They have trained her very well.) She was never "in the way", but loved to be petted.

We were interested in snorkling. Nicole gave us great advice about rental cars (we chose ISIS, and were very happy), places for snorkling off the beach (the Money Bar was tops for lots of colorful fish, and very snorkler friendly), and how to catch a boat out to the Palancar Reef to snorkle there (lots of beautiful fish on the reef and we even saw a sea turtle!)

We can't say enough about the hosts, but it is just as others have written, so perhaps we won't be redundant. Just know that they will be wonderfully friendly and helpful. We also appreciated the friendly guards (they watch the place 24 hours a day, although it certainly isn't as if you'd feel it was necessary) and were grateful for their greetings and help when we needed to figure things out with our car.

There are so many cool things to do in Cozumel the beach, snorkeling, kiteboarding, PGA golf course, and all are right next to Casa Viento. My wife and I have hung out at Casa Viento with Raul and Nicole on two trips in 2007. Kiteboarding brought us to the island and we found so much more. Its personal, low key and full of fantastic surprises.
