“Loved our Stay Villa Hi Na Ha -- a most relaxing vacation!”

We absolutely loved our weeks stay at the bed & breakfast. Delicious breakfast on the beach every morning. Beautiful sunsets in the evenings. Lush flower gardens around each villa and the pool. Lovely, sand beaches for an early morning stroll. Clean rooms and excellent service from our host, Frank. We are recommending a stay at the Villas to all our friends who desire a quiet, beautiful beach, secluded from all the rush, rush of life for a relaxing, dream vacation.

“Great comfortable Mexican villa.”

Frank Heridia the manager will do everything he can to make you comfortable. He worked night and day and even waited up until you got in which in our case was quite late. The rooms are spacious but showing their age. The location with the view is good but you are a distance from town. But, the cab ride is $4-$5 dollars depending on the time of day and of course you may have a scooter or one of those Cadillac golf carts to carry you around which is another adventure. Frank masterminds a wonderful breakfast and went to the trouble to bring it to our room one morning when it was a bit windy. He was a great host. On the low side. Happy hour kind of thing would be welcome around the pool area to socialize with the other guests. The beach was not that great. However, you could go in either direction and find some good water. For cocktails there was a small hotel next door that had a bar open most of the day until they had satisfied the Cancun groups on the booze cruze.
Overall, I would recommend this property for all it had to offer. Have stayed on the Island three times at other hotels but would not hesitat to go back to Villas Hi Na Ha. Should change the name though to something you can pronounce late in the evening after too many shots of tequila.

“Horrible experience”

Having read the numerous reviews on this hotel, I am amazed at the differing experiences that have been had, who is actually writing these glowing reviews? Stayed at Hi Na Ha in early February and was completly unhappy with the hotel. The Villa which we were assigned was filthy and had no hot water, after spending 2 days nogitiating with the manager Frank we were finally moved to another villa which was really not much better. The hotel is very worn and unkempt and lacks even the most remedial of services. The air conditioning did not cool the rooms and the maid service was horrendous. Never have I stayed in a dirtier hotel. Towels and linens are old and stained and not at all up to par for the prices that the hotel is charging. The small beach is pleasant and the pool was clean but the rooms leave alot to be desired. Very few guests were at the property during our 4 days and those whom we met were equally dissapointed. The island is a fabulous gem- so different from neighboring Cancun- still very unspoiled. Unfortunately, I could not suggest this hotel to anyone though.

“Friendly service in a beautiful garden on the beach”

Villas Hi Na Ha on Isla Mujeres, near Cancun, Mexico. We spent a very pleasant week at Villas Hi Na Ha at the end of January 2004. The villa faced the sea with a balcony for each of the two second-floor bedrooms, and another perched on the roof for watching the sun set over Cancun.
It was spacious, clean and well-furnished. The kitchen was equipped with a fridge, stove, coffee maker and double sink. Everything we requested in the way of dishes and utensils was provided promptly. The villas appear to be at least 10-15 years old and show some wear but have been well maintained. The outstanding feature of the Villas Hi Na Ha was the attentive service provided by the manager Frank Heredia. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him each morning at breakfast on the beach. Frank also helped us arrange transport for three day trips, all of which went smoothly, and he provided friendly accurate advice on places to eat and sites to see on the island. The other staff were a housekeeper and gardener. Housekeeping consisted of daily cleaning, bed making and fresh towels, a service which was always provided promptly and efficiently, with a smile. The gardens were especially well maintained, and watching the hummingbirds visit the many flowers around the small swimming pool was a delightful aspect of our stay. We were able to swim safely right from the beach, over a sandy sea grass covered bottom. Villas Hi Na Ha is a delightful spot for a comfortable, quiet Carribean holiday. We hope to visit again soon.

“Villas Hi Na Ha a Good Place to Stay”

We stayed at Villas Hi Na Ha for a week in January 2004 and had a wonderful time. We had been concerned by some negative comments on this site, but they apparently pertained to former management, a problem which has now been rectified. Our clean and tidy two-bedroom Villa sat among beautiful gardens with a stunning view of the ocean, the small but very clean swimming pool and the spectacular sunsets and night sky over Cancun across the water. There were a few minor maintenance problems (some holes in window screens, one tap with no hot water) but these did not detract from our enjoyment. It was a beautiful, quiet spot to get away from it all for a week. Certainly a strong point of Villas Hi Na Ha is the manager, Frank Heredia. He was a charming and engaging host who constantly went out of his way to make our stay more enjoyable, arranging tours, giving us helpful information, serving gourmet breakfasts down by the beach and cooking special dinners at our request with fresh local seafoods. Villas Hi Na Ha is a charming place, a bit seedy but with its own special character. We recommend it to those who want peace and beauty and are not needful of modern plastic facilities.
