“good location for the beach”

Hotel Quinto Sol

The Hotel Quinto Sol look very nice from the outside, but the rooms are very poor. they are big, but with very little furniture, there was not even a chair in our room! Just a desk and a bed.

The shower looked inviting, but worked poorly.

The location is great in relation to the best beach, Playa Mamitas, but not so great related to restaurants and the night scene.... Its a long walk back after bar hopping!

The breakfast was suprisingly good and is included in the price.

“Nice Hotel”

We stayed at Quinto Sol in April 2007. The hotel structure is very
nice and rooms are ok if you need to be in just to sleep and havea shower. It is ok and prices are good. Very well placed - 100 meters far from the beach and 50% discount on chairs and umbrellas at Mamita's beach club. Beach towel available at the hotel.

“Fair, but there are better.”

This is a fair hotel for the price, but for $20 more I would suggest to stay at the Aventura Mexicana. The hotel is directly on 5th Ave, so it's not too quiet, especially if you're in Room 301. (Finding a hotel that's on a street in between 5th and 10th Ave will guarantee a lot more quiet.) It is built around a very small central arbor, just 12 feet across. That means you hear neighbors walking up and down. I found them very courteous and it's mostly fine, but there are better places. Finally, the shower in Rm 301 was a rain shower whose maximum amount of rain was drizzle.

“Enjoyed the Quinto Sol”

Hotel Quinto Sol

We stayed at Quinto Sol for our first three nights in the Mayan Riviera. We were very pleased with this hotel overall. It is in a great area at the north end of 5th Ave where there are lots of great restaurants, shops, etc, but away from the really touristy parts while still within walking distance to everything. It is only a short walk to the beach. Hotel covers 50% of cost of chairs at Mamita's Beach Club (which is a fabulous beach), but it would be nice if they covered the full cost as some other hotels do.

The hotel is very attractive and clean, with great character. For the first two nights we had the room above the front entrance with a balcony over the street. Very nice, although this was pretty loud until the pubs closed at night - so keep that in mind. Our third night was upstairs away from the street and that was better. Both rooms were somewhat dark - more lighting is needed. There was not much hot water either, but we survived that. We thought we were getting free breakfast, but then it was explained that breakfast is free only after staying for two nights - so it would be good to clarify this and bring the email confirmation with you. The breakfasts were good and waiter very friendly.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They had lots of friendly advice and responded very promptly when we needed a light bulb replaced, etc. This certainly contributed greatly to our positive experience.

A more accurate rating would be 3.5 out of 5, if that were an option (not quite a 4). All in all we enjoyed our stay at Quinto Sol and would be happy to return in future.

“It's so dark here”

First I just read someone else's review about how the staff handed them a mop when the room had a problem. And this example is a perfect illustration of the lack of concern for guests at this hotel. Initially, I read the other reviews and figured ok, I'll try it. My concern was noise on 5th ave. Well, it turned out not to be noisy, just completely charmless and sterile. I checked in about 4 pm and the guy at the desk couldn't have cared less about service. He was not rude (he was never rude), he was simply unconcerned about most everything. And then he gave me one of only two rooms next to the lobby. Actually I was placed right next to the restaurant. I figured I'd never sleep, but he did at my request ask the restaurant to turn off the music at 10:30 p.m. I use a white noise machine and ear plugs whenever I travel so I did not hear much- a good thing.
The really odd thing about this room was it was so LIGHT!! They had these weird lights right outside the room (remember this is the lobby) and it looked like Christmas coming through my window all night. But inside the room- was darker than any room I'd ever stayed in. The lighting was terrible. The only place to read was in the SHOWER. I don't mean in the bathroom, I mean the SHOWER. So if you don't care to read, and you like sleeping in the light and you don't mind taking a chance in getting the room next to the lobby, try this. If you can be assured of an upstairs room, maybe it's ok.
Oh, yeah, when I told the woman at the desk my concerns about the lighting problems she just stared at me like I was radioactive. They just can't be bothered with trying to make the hotel more to the guests' liking.
