“Nice location”

Hotel Colibri

Positive: Friendly Staff, Great location, Clean Rooms, Beach Front.

Negative: Mucho noise in the morning from the sound of scuba tanks clanging on the ground...they need to put some mats on the ground to off set the loud metal clanging from the tanks early in the A.M.

If you stay here bring ear plugs...much noise in the evening starting at 9 PM from Blue Parrot and Reggie Bar. Colibri Hotel has complained to the neigboring Bars and the City of Playa Del Carmen, but nothing has been done to tone down the noise....Music blares till 4 am every evening....Hotel does not supply ear plugs (which would be nice) I searched for earplugs in town...Walmart, drug stores etc...no luck!

If you bring good ear plugs you will be ok in the evening.....other than the noise...Hotel is nice.

“Perfect room for the perfect town”

Hotel Colibri

The room was clean, beautiful view, inexpensive, and quiet. The hotel is located next to the Blue Parret, but when I was sleeping, I couldn't even hear the music from the club. Right on the ocean, diving available right in front.....it was perfect! I WILL be back!

“Unsafe and unclean hotel”

Hotel Colibri

We weren't at the Hotel Colibri for 36 hours and our room was broken into -- during the day while we were on the beach in front of the hotel. There is no daytime security at Hotel Colibri and the layout is prime for breakins. Our suitcase was cut open and our cash and travelers checks stolen in addition to a digital camera. The sheets were not changed daily and the shower was full of mold. As mentioned in another report, the staff was very "stand-offish". A fisherman from Puerto Morelos was trying to get ahold of us for three days and he could never get anyone at the hotel desk to answer the phone call from him. I would not go back to Hotel Colibri.

“Noisy neighbors”

Hotel Colibri

Colibri itself did not have live music, but the neighboring hotels did and it was very loud and very obnoxious, with a loud base that could be heard through the walls and music that started late at night and continued till early morning.

Service from the front desk was slow at best; I struggled with my luggage and no one offered to help or helped. Kind of like each person is on its own. The cabanas which are what I thought I wanted based on the pictures and description were not what they seemed. I changed to a room. I could see part of ocean off my balcony. Just not what I wanted.

Close to the little downtown area. Beach area very small and close.

“Hotel Colibri is Awesome!”

Hotel Colibri has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Great maid service. Security in the evenings. Awesome location..close to beach, 5th ave and ferry dock. No resturant, bar, or beach chairs....but so what....you can use the hotel directly next door facilities as long as your order a drink or two, and they have a pretty decent lunch menu..reasonable prices. Reggae bar and Blue Parrot are next door for party fun in the evenings. Don't worry..no evening noise at the Colibri from these bars. I suggest staying in air the conditioned rooms. The palapa rooms can get a little warm, depending on the season. Enjoy!
