“Reasonably priced and clean”

Hotel Las Golondrinas

Jul 13, 2008

Las Golondrinas is a good option if your budget is limited. The rooms have been remodeled and are very comfortable. This hotel is typical of most hotels oriented toward Mexican family accomodations. There is a breakfast buffet that is complimentary and it is quite good. The only drawback that we have had in our 3 visits to Las Golondrinas is that it is a bit of a hike to the beach--approximately 4-5 blocks. I guess we like it, we keep going back!

    • Disliked — Several blocks from the beach

“Nice hotel, but a little noisy”

Hotel Las Golondrinas

4 of 5 stars
Landrum, South Carolina
Mar 25, 2008

Stayed at Las Golondrinas for 3 nights, March 9-12. We had requested a room with two beds in it as it was a friend of mine and myself. We were quoted $85 US per night. Went to check-in they told us the room was not quite ready but were happy to hold our bags for us. After returning, we checked in to our room and found that we had gotten a two bedroom suite with a two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining area and kitchen. Place was very clean, staff extremely nice. Had a problem with the toilet and it was fixed very promptly. The only grief I had was taht it was a little noisy at night from the cars on Constituyentes. Our room was at the front of the hotel and we slept with the windows open. it was not so loud you could not sleep by any means just could hear traffic, sirens, etc. i would definitely stay here and recommend this hotel to someone else. The hotel website shows the location between 10 and 15 avenue but it is actually between 15 and 20 avenues. It was a quick walk down Constituyentes & 5th. For the price it was more than I was asking for.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Cleanliness of the room
    • Disliked — Room on the corner of Constituyentes and 20th ave. it was a little noisy with the windows open.

“Mediocre”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on New Year's Eve 2008. We'd been staying at another place near Cancun and decided to come to Playa for New Year's Eve. We were worried about finding a place because of the holiday so we booked online and really got ripped off on the price. We paid $186 for a suite that was right by the front door and looked out onto the parking lot of a large grocery store. The next morning we also found out that the room didn't come with the continental breakfast (just juice, coffee, yogurt and cereal--Corn Flakes and Coco Puffs).

The room was clean and the staff were friendly but the the quality is average--we shouldn't have paid more than $70. It's about 5 blocks from the beach on a really busy street--so it's also quite noisy from the traffic. The pool looks clean and is surrounded by plants with a garden-like atmosphere but it's really small and boxed in by the hotel so there's virutally no sunlight. There's also nowhere to really sit or lounge around.

As we walked around later that night we found a few more hotels with about the same level of quality at much more affordable rates and closer to the beach. Don't waste your money here...hold out for something better.

“The Best Place in Playa del Carmen”

Staying at Hotel Las Golondrinas made my vacation the best experience possible. All of the staff were extremely helpful in whatever I needed. The hotel was kept spotless, the continental breakfast was very appealing, and all of the people there treated me as a special guest. I was able to ask questions about the local area and get the best recommendations from those working at the hotel. The hotel was very comfortable and within walking distance of all of the shopping areas and the beach. As an American, I was very happy when I was directed to WalMart! I will definitely recommend Hotel Las Golondrinas to all that are traveling there.

“Good location, comfortable and quiet”

Hotel Las Golondrinas

Managed to get amazingly cheap last min deal on 'allocated on arrival' accomodation in Playa Del Carmen
We were a bit worried at first when the bus stopped off at all the swish resorts on the coast but were miles away from any other civilization and were very pleasently surprised when we got to Las Golondrinas as the hotel is no more than 10 mins (max) walk into Playa del Carmen main street and beach which is fantastic

The hotel itself is fairly basic but clean and quiet. Our room was huge with 2 large double beds just for the 2 of us. the a/c was ok but the room was back facing so was in the shade anyway. The swimming pool is pretty tiny and the Breakfast wasn't up to much more than toast & tea but we weren't expecting any more than this.

so in a nutshell - nothing special on the hotel, but clean, quiet and convenient for it's * rating and price.
