First and foremost, "Hello to our new friends at Discovery Jungle Park... Pedro, Ricky, Carlos & Santaol" !!!! We miss you! OK.. here it is straight up from four experienced ATV riders that know how to have fun and are eager to participate in new adventures. My family (Ray,RJ,Alyssa & Me, Mama Lucy) were picked up from our resort by Carlos on 3/16/08 for the first ride of the day with DJP.... the ride was quick, we arrived at the office/headquarters where we were greeted by the guides (our new friends) with enthusiasm... we were asked to grab helmets & goggles (we all wore sunglasses so didn't need the goggles) and filled out the "usual tour paperwork". After a brief wait for the remaining people that were booked that morning (total of group was bout 20, which is perfect in our experience as we have rode with various amounts of people... Discovery Jungle Park does not overbook, as they prefer to keep the tour small which adds to the enjoyment for all concerned!) After a brief instructional we were on our quads/atv's and on our way! Woohoo! Yes, we rode (as instructed) on pavement for a short mile or so, and into the jungle we went for about 10 miles.... OK, Listen folks, we have been riding in all types of terrain, this is the jungle in Mexico.. its "flat" , it can be dusty and it can be muddy... all depends on when you RIDE! We have experienced both in Mexico and had a blast in both extremes!! From the moment we set out to the time of our return we had a fantastic trip.... Our guides, Pedro, Ricky, Carlos & Santaol were top notch... funny, kind and most of all experienced in every aspect of the adventure....they made it the experience of a lifetime! Some of us rode fast in the front, and some who were new to riding took longer to catch up to the front, but that was OK! They were there to keep it all together and most of all safe for everyone. Their "shack" was perfect, sure maybe it had boards that were missing... no problem, we were in the JUNGLE, all part of the experience, be open minded, hey... there was "facilities" for the women and plenty of trees for the guys! ;-)
All equipment for the zip lines were in tip top shape and personal attention was given to everyone who participated.. I was not able to do the zip lines as I was recovering from surgery... instead I was the "paparrazi" and had a blast with the guides! Each and every zip line was better and more intense than the first and safe as can be, not sure what other people are talking about in other reviews... and NO, there were no people holding ladders, this I tell you is true. (not sure what tour that was on?!!) As for the Cenote, yes it is in a cave, and yes it does require many steps down into it, that is no lie and I am afraid of heights, BUT I did it, ! ... I went down and came back up with support and guidance of Ricky (one of the guides) he was so kind and patient that my fear of heights was conquered with his help.
Through the entire tour/trip we had so much fun, so many laughs, it felt like we all were a family! Some of us tasted the fruit by the "shack" which was similar to a pear, how eager they were to share something from their domain. We had a super fun ride back to the headquarters, some of us (myself and family) were right up front, me personally rode behind my man Ricky and had a fast blast of riding fun, kept up with him the entire ride home (45yr old Mom!!!) When we all arrived back, there was a place to wash your face from the dust.... yup you get dirty folks, thats all part of the fun!!!!! ATV riding means gettting dirty, the muddier and dirtier you get the better it is! Pedro handed out fresh mangoes for those who wanted, and taught us how to eat them.... they are juicy and delicious.....
PEOPLE , Pulleeeze, for those of you who are looking for fun and adventure in the natural environment of what Mexico's jungle has to offer, than this is the excursion for you... # 1, NUMERO UNO... THE BEST!
To Tripadvisor..... if Discovery Jungle Park isn't number one, they sure should be!!!!!
HASTA LUEGO MI AMIGO'S
